Searching for my gggrandfather, first appeared in Franklin co, TN when he married Elizabeth Custer in 1840. Census stated his parents were born in England. I have a great deal of information on him since then but nothing before. Does anyone have the parents or any information before 1840?

Hello Betty Would love to help but do need a tad more information before I can start looking at my data bases. I presume that your gggrandfather was Orrin Hill. Did he have any other forenames?? You say he married Elizabeth Custer in 1840, but you do not say if this was a first marriage or how old he was at the time?? Do you know if Orrin was born in the US or in the UK?? Do you know if he had any brothers or sisters, their names and birth locations?? Do you know of any other older relatives, their names or place of birth?? Did he have issue and if so what were the given names??
