    1. RE: Lewis HILL family

    3. Sorry, but I sent this before doing a quick once-over. The youngest child at home is enumerated as having been born in Illinois, not Iowa as I had shown in my previous message. (See the corrected transcription below.) So, this family would have moved to Illinois from Iowa between about 1865 and 1868. The family should be found in the Iowa Census enumerations of 1850 and 1860, and if the information for the father and mother is correct, also possibly as far back as 1840. Kim Federal Census, 1870, Tp. 9 S R. 6 E, Saline Co., Illinois, p. 5 (handwritten) / 503 (inkstamped) enumerated 2 June 1870, by S S Stricklin, Post Office: Harrisburg, Ill. family/household 27/28 Hill, Lewis 56 M W Farmer - 250 Iowa - - - - - - - - 1 - - , Hatty 55 F W Keeping House - - Iowa - - - - - - - - - - - , John 14 M W At Home - - Iowa - - - - 1 - - - - - - , Jackson 35 M W Farmer - 100 Iowa - - - - - - - - 1 - - , Nancy 15 F W At Home - - Iowa - - - - 1 - - - - - - , Jane 10 F W At Home - - Iowa - - - - 1 - - - - - - , Christinia 5 F W At Home - - Iowa - - - - - - - - - - - , Caroline 2 F W At Home - - Ill. - - - - - - - - - - Apparently not one of my HILL line, but was worth a look. Hope this helps. Kim
