    3. Luzerne County is the right area. Sounds as if there may be a connection. There was a German HILL line there at the same time, but I have been unable to connect James HILL (1763-1862) to this family. At this point all of the documents I've seen spell "TIDD" as TIDD and TID. There are several primary source documents in The Susquehanna Company Papers which I originally found at the University of Washington in Seattle. Martin TIDD, father-in-law to James, is referenced quite a bit. Martin's father John was killed and scalped by Indians at the outset of the French and Indian War (Seven Year's War). He was a fur trapper roaming this region at the time. This is documented in the Pennsylvania Archives. I have a ton of information and hope to write and publish a book one of these days.
