HOYLE was born in 1827 in Lincoln Co., NC and died on May 3, 1863 in the Battle at Chancellorsville in VA. at 35 years of age. He was living in Gaston Co., NC when he enlisted. Rachel and Jacob had at least two children per the 1860 Gaston County Census. They were Precious who married William Jacob DELLINGER, and Barbra who was 7 years of age in 1860. Rachel Lucinda HOYLE is buried in the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery which is in Lincoln County.
