I will post yet again, and hope for a little info. My ggrandfather, Burt Hill, shows up in Johnston Co., NC in the 1850 census, and was married that same year. Before that I have no clue about his parents siblngs or anyone. I have his Civil War record and that he applied for a pension. Of course, there is the folk lore of Bert was a Native American and changed his name, but since every family has one, I don't put much stock in it.
