    3. Looking for any information on Luke Hill and his wife Charlotte Richardson Hill. Luke (b. ca. 1788 in Franklin Co. VA) marries Charlotte Richardson (b. ca 1790 in Franklin Co. VA; d. ca 1843 in Ray County, MO) on 22 Oct 1810 in Franklin Co. VA (per citation, unconfirmed, in One World Tree). In the correspondence of Gertrude Mann in the archives of the Franklin Co. Historical Society, this couple is said to move to Missouri early on in their marriage. Mrs. Mann speculates that Luke is the son of Thomas Hill (1750 PA -1827 VA) & Aliannah Standifer/Standefer, the nephew of Swinfield Hill (1749 PA - 1826 VA) and Martha van Bibber, and the grandson of Robert Hill (1713, Dublin - 1778 VA) & Violetta Linus (1721 - 1803 VA), all members of a pioneering family who lived on the Pigg River in Rocky Mount, VA. Charlotte is the daughter of Jonathan Richardson/Richeson (1748-1813 VA) and Elizabeth Taylor (b. ca. 1749 VA). Heirs (presumably children of this marriage and their spouses) are referenced in court proceedings following Charlotte Hill's death in 1843 as follows: Wills and Admin. Ray Co. MO Books A&B 1821-53 Charlotte Hill, intestate Admr. James Johnson, Securties (son-in-law?) Daniel J. Branstetter and O.H. Scarcy 18 October 1843 B/28 Ray Co. MO Probate Records Charlotte Hill, dec’d James Johnson, Admr. Book 1, page 71 File H-9 From the record of estate was [page 125] Inventory, which showed various personal effects plus one slave named Alexander, appraised at $200.00 and one slave named Susan, appraised at $250.00 and the following land: W1/2 SW ¼ 22-52-27m 80A. and E ¼ 22-52-27, 40A. Dated November 1845. No date of death given, and no will. Final Settlement Notice appeared in the Grand River Chronicle in Chillicothe, Missouri on 30 November 1848. The following signed for their equal shares (James S. Hill had his in two parts, 2/3 earliest and then 1/3 due with this settlement) 3 Jan 1846 Aleyanah Johnson and James Johnson, husband and wife James S. Hill Skelton Hill Thomas Hill Elizabeth Jasper and Edward Jasper, husband and wife Edward Jasper The fact that Luke and Charlotte have a daughter named Aleyanah and a son named Thomas makes Mrs. Mann's conjecture [of a link to Robert Hill via son Thomas] very attractive! Can anyone confirm or contribute to Mrs. Mann's account? Many thanks.
