Well, I am not sure if they are related, but I have submitted a DNA sample which has been identified as "German" in origin, specifically Anglo-Saxon. My results are likely Haplogroup I. I fit into the subclade known as I1a. I am a participant in the HILL DNA Project, http://www.hilldna.com. I'm in Group 27. Ken has done some great background on this at his site http://www.northwestanalysis.net. James was in the same area as the German HILLs at the same time and I don't think these potential connections should be dismissed so easily. He is listed on the 1790 census in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He likely married Mary JORDAN and then Sarah TIDD.
