I received this email from Ken Hill, a descendant of John and Owen HILL recently. His DNA test (limited to 12 markers) matches closely with mine (James HILL, 1763-1862). The 27 STR on DYS 389-2 is extremely rare. (Which we both have.) We will be working on expanding his test to 37 markers. I am posting this to help other researchers who may working on this line. http://www.hilldna.com/4905.htm http://www.hilldna.com/Group27.htm http://www.hilldna.com/results.html Aaron From: "Aaron Hill" <mrmayor@hotmail.com> To: ken_hill@frontier.net Subject: RE: John Hill lineage Date: Fri, 08 Sep 2006 23:29:00 +0000 Have you thought about upgrading to 25 or 37? I will do some poking around and see what I can find. Note that James HILL (1763-1862) had a son named John Crooks HILL and on the 1790 Pennsylvania Census there is a John HILL living very near James HILL and his wife Mary JORDAN. I have developed a theory that James HILL who married Sarah TIDD is the same James HILL who first married Mary JORDAN. I'll send more when I have more time. Thanks for getting in touch. It's nice hearing from you. Aaron From: "Ken Hill" <ken_hill@frontier.net> To: <mrmayor@hotmail.com> Subject: John Hill lineage Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2006 17:20:06 -0600 Aaron, I haven't paid a lot of attention to the Hill list lately. I am the participant that furnished the information on my GGGrandfather John Hill. I haven't looked at my notes recently, but as far as I can remember the death certificate of John said both of his parents were from New York. Another account said the father was from New York, the mother from New Jersey. I have Owen (my GGrandfather ) listed in the 1850 census in Tippacanoe county Indiana. There are several individuals listed in the residence including two other Hills. One is John H. Hill born in 1828 in Indiana and Mary Hill born in Indiana also in 1828. I don't know what if any relation they are. I was one of the original participants in the DNA project when they only did a 12 marker test. When I look at your markers they are similiar, but it is hard to say with only 12 markers on mine. Thanks Ken Hill
