William Hill, b. 1737 Caroline Co, VA, d. 29 Sep 1792 Germantown, Surry Co, NC, wife, Elizabeth Halbert, b. 17 Sep 1742 VA, d. after 1811 Surry Co, NC, (my 5th grt grandparents) and their son, John "Big John" Hill, b. abt 1767 Surry Co, NC married Obedience. (My 4th grt grandparents.) John and Obedience had Cynthia Hill who married in Jan 1819 Lauderdale Co, AL, to Alexander Andrew Norman b. 24 Dec 1797 Union Co, SC, and both died near Canton, VanZandt Co, TX, buried in Cana Baptist Church Cemetery. Alexander and Cynthia are my 3rd grt grandparents. Cynthia died in Dec 1870. They had 12 children, one being Green Hill Norman, Sr, b. 1825 MS, d. 1903 AR, married Eliza H. Rosson, b. 1830, d. 1901 at Big Flat, Baxter Co, AR, both buried in Big Flat Cemetery. Alexander, Cynthia and children all lived in Wayne, Lincoln, and Lawrence Counties, TN, before settling in TX. One son, William Martin Norman remained in Wayne Co, TN all of his life; another son, Green Hill Norman, Sr moved in late 1860 or early 1861 to Big Flat, AR. The other 10 children went to VanZandt Co, TX with Alexander and Cynthia. Green and Eliza are my grt grt grandparents. Their son, William Albert "Ab" Norman married Matilda Jane Lawson, and they're my grt grandparents. Ab and Matilda had John Newton Norman who married Eliza Belle Bradshaw, and they're my grandparents. John and Eliza had William Albert "Bill" Norman (1906-1972) who married in 1928 to Sarah Annie Mayville (1912-1996), and these are my parents. John Newton Norman had six children by Eliza, then next he married Ida Mary Cynthia Pearl AVEY, and they also had six children. Of the 12 children of John Newton Norman, only three are still living. Jerri, Thank you for the response. Do you by any chance know of other children of William Hill and Elizabeth Halbert? I'm looking for Charles Hill/Hilles b July 17, 1771 place unknown, died 1830 in Rutherford Co NC. The Surry county connection certainly makes it possible. Also, the name Halbert caught my eye. A family migrated into WNC sometime around 1850 I think (I don't research this family) but they spelled it Holbert but pronounced it Hallbert. Wondered if it might be the same line.
