Looking for information on parents and children of RUFUS H. HILL b 10-7-1852 in Derby Line or Hollis, VT, and d 7-11-1924. Rufus m NELLIE A. MORSE b 9-22-1864 in Alexandria, NH, d 4-5-1905. This I know for sure. I think Rufus is the s of HOLLIS HILL and ELIZABETH ABBIE? (not sure). This is where things get a little fuzzy. When I wrote to the Grafton, NH and Orange, NH Town Clerks Office I received information from them stating that Rufus Hill's father was Hollis Hill and his mother was Elizabeth Abbie. But at the Vital Records Office in Concord, NH they show the parents as Hanley Hill and Hepzibath ???? (Unknown). 1860 Census shows Rufus in Brighton Township at age 9 living in the household of Ralph Fogg, listing birthplace as Canada. 1880 Census shows Rufus and Nellie in Grafton, NH in the household of Henry Ford, listing Rufus' birthplace as NH. The 1900 Census still shows Rufus & Nellie in Grafton but listing Rufus' birthplace as Vermont. They had a son Walter H. Hill (my g grandfather) b 6/2/1878 in Orange, NH. He d 6/1941 in Grafton, NH. Walter was married to Lora Jane Rollins, b 5/1/1879 d 3/1964 of heart failure in Concord, NH. Walter and Lora Jane had the following children: Burnice Nellie (my grandmother- m. Lewis R. Smith of Orange, NH), Raymond A (died at age 16), Dorothy J (m. Herbert Remmick of Groton, NH), Persons Wing (died at 10 months old), and Rufus (m. Pearl Lafond and had 5 children). Can anyone connect to my elusive Hill's?
