Hello D.A. and Other Hill Researchers: I am not a descendant of the Hill Family, but my beloved wife, now deceased was the grand daughter of Mary Belle Hill. We did some extensive research on the Hill Family of Virginia. About 20 years after the founding of Jamestown, VA, Henry Hill and his brother William of Shropshire County England came to Virginia. They settled on the Eastern Shores of Early Virginia in what is now Middlesex Co., VA. It was in 1740 that Russell Hill the great grandson of William along with his brother Needles moved inland and became one of the original settlers of Culpeper Co., VA. This is the ancestry of the famous Civil War General Ambrose Powell Hill. There are a number of Johns in this family, but I could not identify any one of them as a John Fleming Hill.
