Hi Tammy, This may be a stretch but it may also be a clue. I have a Jane W. Hill (1804-1889) married Moses H. MAGANN (1808-1886) on 24 March 1829 in Amherst Co., VA. I cannot find anything on my Jane Hill but her husband's family is from Scotland. Another Magann researcher indicated that there were Magann's in VA during the Revolutionary War. I have not found parents or siblings of Moses in VA so not sure if his family was there then. I have found the Magann name spelled several different ways in vital records and census records - McGunn, McGann, Migann, Magan. My question/idea is maybe my Jane is the sibling of your Thomas W. Hill...maybe Jane was born in Scotland...maybe she had friends/family that knew the Magann's before she came over? Lot's of questions...now to find the answers. I'll let you know if I find anything. Regards, Kelley http://lilyeag.home.mindspring.com/surnames.htm Thomas W. Hill married Louisa Birch on 03-31-1834 in Pittsylvania County, VA. They had 9 children: James Osborne Hill, Alfred A. Hill (my g-g-grandfather), Richard Welden Hill, Henry Hamilton Hill, John Robert Hill, Betty Hill, Mary Hill, Virginia Hill and Missouri Hill. The only lead I have is that he may have come from Scotland.
