Just a note to say to those of you up against that proverbial "brick wall"... try looking in neighboring counties in addition to the known counties of your ancestors. I had a HUGE breakthrough on my maternal side when I accidently misread my Atlas one night and wrote to what I thought was the correct county, but in fact it was an adjacent county. The adjacent county turned out to be a hotbed of MY ancestors. By that one "mistake" I gathered at least four generations I had been seeking for the past twenty years. So...spread your net to all the adjacent counties. Our ancestors were always on the move, never knowing one day we would be trying to corral them.
