I am still searching for ** Seth Hill who showed up in the 1850 census, Licking County, Jersey Township, Ohio, taken on the 7th day of August 1850. I have listed the census findings located in Ohio and Indiana areas. Note Seth Hill I am searching for has listed the birth place of Conn. Any help here with this family would be appreciated. I am trying to locate Seth Hill's birth place, who his parents were and to find out if this Seth Hill is the Seth Stone Hill listed in other family lineage's found at the LDS site., thanks bill Line I am following. ** Seth Hill (could be Seth Stone Hill), to Luke Hill, to Seth J. Hill, to Charles C. Hill 1850 US Census, Sparta Township, Noble County, Indiana, Sept 1850. Page 219, written 437 Dwelling Number 60 Name age sex color profession place of birth Luke Hill 24 m w Laborer Penn Mary Ann 23 f w Penn Seth 2 m w Ohio The listed census age subtracted from the census year correspond with the ages of Luke, Mary Ann and Seth. 1850 US Census, Licking County, Jersey Township, Ohio, taken on the 7th day of August 1850 for the family of Seth Hill. Dwelling –house number in order of visitation 565-18; Families numbered in order of visitation 370/18 Name age sex color profession place of birth attended school w/in 1 year ** SETH HILL 73 m w carpenter CT Mary Ann 53 f w PA Charles 20 m w laborer PA Michael 17 m w laborer PA Joseph 11 m w PA X Sarah Ann 22 f w PA Using the above information the age for Seth and Mary Ann calculate to the correct birth years. By the year of 1850 Luke would have been 24 years old, and his off spring would have already been born. This would explain why Luke Hill is not listed here in this census. This Mary Ann could well be the Mary Ann Gorman who is suspected as being the spouse of Seth Hill. The names listed in this census and Charles Hill's age matches this of the Charles Hill listing in the Seth Stone Hill lineage I located on the internet. However Mary Ann's age does differ from the Seth Stone Hill lineage by 2 years. This difference could be accounted for due to the months of actual birth as compared by month of census, and if the age at time of death was given in years, months and days, a computation error could have been easily made. 1830 US Census, Perry county, Hopewell Twp;, page 411, Edwards, Thomas. List the following. 0-5 5-10 10-15 20-30 30-45 Male 1 2 2 1 1 Female 1 1 1 With the exception of two listings, one female and one male between the ages of 20-30 yrs, this census coincides with the known family members. 1850 US Census, Ashtabula County, Austinburg Twp; There is a listing for Seth Hill, age 51, Male, born NH; Anna Hill, age 41, Female, born Conn; Lorilla Hill, age 18, Female, born Ohio; Pennsylvania; First Census of the United States, 1790, Pennsylvania, Westmorland County, French Creek Township, page 262, Hill, Luke; 1 Free white males over the age of 16. 1 free white female including heads of household. During this census, Luke Hill son of Seth Hill, would not have been born as of yet. I suspect this to be a brother of Seth Hill Sr. Looks up in Ohio Found several federal census listings for the Hill's. One such listings were from the first census of the united states, in Pennsylvania. Their was a Luke Hill listed in French creek Township, showing One free white male over the age of 16 and one free white female. This information does not correspond to Luke Hill I am researching since this census was about 1830 which would put Luke at age 4 years old.
