Perry, Our Moses was supposed to have been born in N.C. As far as I know our Hill line was in the Warren/Wilkes Co., GA area . Elbert Co. Ga. (created from Wilkes County in 1790) Deed Book "A" 1789-1792 Grantors: Moses Hill Deed Book B 1790-1792: 1791 Moses Hill sold land granted to Moses Hill in 1788 (sold by Moses and Hannah) ((Moses had to have been born before 1768 to have been 20 years old to have gotten a Headright in 1788)) Moses Hill Grantors; John Hill Grantee; Tax defaulters 1793 Moses Hill Passports Issued by Governors of Georgia 1785-1809 Warren Co. GA Moses Hill and Starling Hill received a passport from the Governor of Georgia to go throught the Creek Nation of Indians on Monday, March 20, 1809. A few days later he got permission to take 3 sons with him Tradition is that 2 were lost on the way to Alabama Territory. He and 17 year old Starling spent one year preparing for the rest of the family. The settled in Clarke County, within what was the Mississippi Territory (now Alabama.) John Landrum the younger and John Landrum the Elder got their pasport Nov. 22, 1803. (John Sr.was married to Catherine Hill a daughter of Moses) Green Hill signed for permission Nov. 22, 1803 to move with the Landrum family to the River Tombigbee or Dunbigbee and it was recommendated for passport Nov. 25, 1803. (Green is a son of Moses) Moses returned in 1810 to Jones County, Ga. and on April 14, 1810 he again received passports for himself, his wife, and two children. They settled in Clarke County within what was the Mississippi Territory (now Alabama). One story I received said Moses had 22 children and these are all that I have except some daughters Elizabeth and Tabitha. Moses died in 1832 and his will was probated in Clarke Co., Ala. There was a Moses in Tennessee pretty early sorry I don't have that record. I do have a will abstract for a Moses in Rowan Co., NC. Rowan Co., NC Will Abstacts Vol. 1, 1753-1805 by Jo White Linn: Rowan Co., NC Thomas Hill 243 acres on Feb. 10, 1763 E;101 Moses Hill. July 7, 1778, no probate date. Miller. Sons: Moses land in east Gearsey in Atwill Township), Joseph and Daniel. Grandson: Joseph Hill. Exrs: Richard Wilson, son Moses Hill. Wit: Edward Turner, Willm Wood page 26 B 80 James Douglas July 1, 1778, probate 1779. George Douglas and surviving brothers. John McWhorten. Exrs: James Hill, John Hill. Wit: Abraham Hill, James Hill, John Hill E;122 Henry Hill, Jr. March 4, 1799. prob. 1799. Wife Nancy Hill (parents still living). She must remarry with the consent of her parents, James Parks and Joshua Caton). Brothers: Green and Richard Hill. Sister: Sally Hampton. He wills his three negroes to the president of the humane Society in Virginia. He mentions furniture and stock left in Franklin County. Exrs: Hardy Jones, James Parks.
