    1. [HILL-L] J.N.Hill told by a member of the Anderson family
    2. "I was born on December 25, 1893 in Indian Field Kentucky. Five years later I arrived in Culberson North Carolina. This I recall very vividly. My mother, a brother , charlie and sisters. We came from New Harmony Indiana, needing a home, the children were given for adoption. Martha Hyatt Bruce asked for my sisters and Aletha Hyatt Anderson adopted me. These ladies were sisters and were daughters of Hezekiah Burchfield and Zinnia Hyatt. The Hyatt family was among the first settlers of Culberson. They came after a narrow gauge of railroad called the M & N G (Marietta and North Georgia) had been established. Later this line was known as the L & N Railroad. A depot and telegraph service were begun and I recall the first depot agent and telegrapher was Mrs. Arra Fain. Later a teenager, Julius N. Hill of Murphy served in this capacity. The young depot agent went on to medical school and served as the Cherokee County physician and had a good family practice until his death>" Kathryne Deadrick Bayless married Dr. J.N. Hill.
