I have a good bit of information I am passing along. All thanks to the research done by Virgie Wulff of Tulsa, OK during the late 1960's. She contacted my grandmother, a Hill descendant, for information and this is how I came to have it. Mrs. Wulff was actually researching her Acord roots, but kept coming across Marcus Hill, so here goes. Marcus Hill (7/4/1826 Perry Co, TN - 12/26/1895 Yale Ark.) In the fall of 1847, in Franklin Co., AR married Eliza Jones (1826 ???? - 7/15/1861) daughter of Francis K and Eliza Jones of Alabama. Marcus and Eliza appeared 1850 census as living in the Boston Township, Franklin County AR with one child one year old. Marcus said he was 20 for the census which would make him born in 1830 instead of 1826. Children: James 1849 Cass, Franklin Co, AR- before 1870 census; W.A. (died before 1860 census); R.S. (died before 1870 census); Layfette (Fate); Emeline and Elias(m). Marcus Hill, after the death of Eliza, married Melissia Thompson (1843 - ????) They had one child, Jefferson D. (1/21/1862-9/13/1876) buried in Hill Chapel Cemetery, Yale, AR. Marcus Hill, on August 10, 1864, married Susan (Hill) Davis (1842 Beech Grove, AR-11/14/1915 Yale, AR daughter of Willam Allison (8/12/1812 Cabarrus Co., NC-1/30/1895 Beech Grove, AR) and Winnie (Warren) Hill (3/12/1811-5/30/1875 Beech Grove, AR. Susan first married John Davis and had 2 children. Marcus and his 3rd wife, Susan, had 8 children of their own, and 1 still born. Susan also raised the 3 surviving children Marcus sired with Eliza. Marcus & Susan's children are: Mary John H. Alice William Orville (my gggf) Louisa (edie) Winnie Maggie Pleasant Kimbrell & an infant son born & died 4/15/1880 buried Hill Chapel Cemetery, Yale AR Marcus served briefly in the Mexican American war drawing pension # 21,523. He also served in the Civil War in Co. A, Grays Battery, Ark Volunteers. He was a Johnson Co, AR land owner and operated the first cotton gin & water mill on the Big Mulberry. It was at this mill his arm was crushed in an accident, and as a result was the cause of his death. I have some information on the children of this marriage, particularly my gggf, William Orville and the decendants of that lineage. Please contact me if this information might help in your search or if you have information that could help me expand my own history. Marcus and all of his wives were buried in the Hill Chapel Cemetery. I have a good bit of information
