    2. Hello Everyone, This is the information that I was able to gather from the Sion L. Hill pension. Sion L. Hill alias Hurbert Hill, widow Frances Dismuke. Pvt. in Capt. Joseph Howard's Co., Ga. Mil. Enlisted 20 August 1813, information given by widow states he enlisted at Fort Hawkins, another page states he enlisted in Baldwin County, Georgia. (does anyone know where Fort Hawkins is located?) Discharged 8 March 1814 at Fort Hawkins. Residence of soldier: 1852 1855 Macon Co., Ala. Residence of Widow: 1876 1878 Ozark, Dale Co., Ala. Marriage of Soldier and Widow Dec 5, 1818, Clinton, Jones Co., Ga. Death of Soldier Aug 2, 1871, Ozark, Ala. War of 1812. Francis Hill aged Eighty years, a resident of Dale County, in the State of Alabama, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Sion L. Hill deceased, who was the identical Sion L. Hill, who served under the name of Hurbert Hill as a private in the Company commanded by Captain Thomas Woodard in regiment of Georgia Troups commanded by Newnon? under Gen. Floyd in the war of Eighteen Hundred & Twelve, that her said husband voluntered at Fort Hawkins in Ga., on or about the 1st day of July in the year A. D. 1814 for the term of War, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of Six months and whose services terminated, by reason of an Honorable discharge at Fort Hawkins on the --- day of December 1814. She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: Seventeen years 6 months- farmer Birth Place North Carolina (Hight), five ft. 8 or 10 inches, Hair Black Eyes Gray, complexion Fair, she further states taht she was married to the said Sion L. Hill at the city or town of Clinton in the county of Jones in the State of Georgia on the Fifth day of December A. D. 1818, by one John Heath, who was a justice of the peace, and that her name before her said marriage was Francis Desmuke and she further states that neither claiment nor her husband had been previously married, and that her said husband Sion L. Hill died near Ozark in the State of Albama on the 2nd day of August A. D. 1871. and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz: Resdied in Jones Co. Georgia from 1818 to 1832 from there to Haris Co., Ga, & resided there 10 years & from there to the State of Alabama where they have resided until date 1878." Records also state that he was in the Indian War: Sion L. Hill was a Major & commanded a Battallion under the command of Brigadier General Henry Lowe in the Indian War of (1836) of the Georgia Militia: that he enlisted or voluntered at Hamilton, in the County of Harris in the State of Georgia, on or about the 10 or 15th of May A. D. 1836 for the term of said Indian War, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of near three months (141 days) and was honorably discharged at Hamilton, Harris Co., Georgia on or about the last of July or 1st August 1836. I find this Hill family in the following locations during the Federal Census. 1820 Putnam County, GA. 1830 Jones County, GA. 1840 Harris County, GA. 1850- Have not located them in this census. 1860 Macon County, GA.
