Sorry Hill-L listmembers! My Hill-L and Porter-L are next to each other in my address book. I meant to post: Looking for parents of: James Franklin HILL--b abt 1872, he stated in border crossing papers--Sydenham, Frontenac, Ontario, Canada; d aft 1910 Michigan? Occupation: Carpenter Married abt 1893 in Canada to Lydia Martha STONE b abt 1877 West Gillsboro,,Ontario, Canada, d aft 1910 in Detroit, Michigan. I have a curious situation with James Franklin. I easily found the family on the Ontario, Canada 1901 census. James HILL age 50 occupation: carpenter Lydia 33 James F. 7 Eva P. 5 Ethel M. 3 Lilly May 2 Then I researched the area where his children were born (Grey Co, Ontario--I have copies of all their birth records but the youngest which won't be available for another year) for the 1891 census. Because of his age and since his oldest child wasn't born until 1894, I was hoping to find him 1) as a bachelor 2) as a boarder or 3) living with his parents. Instead I found: James HILL age 42 occupation: carpenter Mary 38 Maggie May 18 Minnie Edith 14 Lillia 8 Olive 1 I spent hours going through the entire county looking for James' possible siblings and there were no other Jameses that I could find! Any suggestions? Anyone out there connected to the James/Lydia STONE line? Samantha CA
