Lodwick Johnson Hill, writing in Hills of Wilkes County Georgia, pre supposes that the Hills came from Ireland. He researched his book thoroughly and found no proof his (mine) line came from Ireland. In the times of England's rule of Ireland, many Hill families moved to Ireland and held prominent posts. The problem of tracing the Hills who came through Nasemond County,Virginia, there were several around Hills around Jamestown, Virginia, pre Revolutionary War . May family moved to the other side of Dismal Swamp into Chowan County, NC. Lodwick Hill documents everything about the family after they moved to NC. The courthouse in Nansemond Count VA burned three times and all of their records was lost I think it was burned once by the British, secondly by Yankees and the third by God. Hills of Wilkes should be available in most genealogy libraries and I have placed a good bit of it on PAF Files available over the internet. Beware of any genealogy on my file prior to Henry Hill b 1660-65, m Mary?, had son, Abraham. Abraham's records are all over Chowan County, NC. He was a founding warden of St. Joseph's (now} Episcopal Church. He bought and sold a great deal of property in Chowan County and the records still exist. Records that have been added to mine taking the family from Henry Hill, 1660-75, back to ancient England, . have, in my opinion been, forced.
