    3. Dear Woody, I believe my Hill line originated in Virginia, but I cannot document the statement---yet! That is the reason for my research! I want to know the immigrant's name and where he came from, with documentation! Traditionally, our Isaac Hill who married Mary Barnes in 1788 in Rowan County, NC, was a son of John W. Hill (married Margaret Logan in 1769, Rowan County, NC); John W. Hill, traditionally and according to old hand written records handed down several generations, was "a son of James Hill from England". From NC, Isaac Hill and Mary Barnes (parents of 9 sons and 2 daughters) migrated through TN and KY into White County, then into Hamilton County, Illinois in time for the 1820 census. Thanks for suggesting the idea---Nola (Hill) in KS. Woody H.
