    1. Rev. James HILL Burial Site?
    2. Ray H. Smith
    3. It is my understanding that Rev. HILL is buried in the Cemetery South of the Court House in Lincolnton. Is this right or wrong? If correct I went there to search for his grave; but found the cemetery under lock and key. Would someone be kind enough to provide me with his birth and death dates. Is his wife Precious STOKES buried along side him? If so kindly include her dates. To the best of my knowledge this cemetery has not been surveyed and on the internet. Perhaps there is a cemetery book for the cemetery where is buried that I am unaware of. Thank YOU! Ray

    1. Roll Call: Mordecai
    2. Joyce Lambert
    3. My 4th Great-Grandfather was Mordecai Hill (Dr.), b: ca 1765 in England and came to Washington, D.C. before settling in Oglethorpe Co., GA. In 1795, he married Elizabeth Arnold, b: ca 1770. One of his daughter, Avey Mae Hill married Lewis Peacock. I have found a lot of conflicting dates and locations concerning Mordecai. Surely, there was not more than one Mordecai Hill in GA, married to Elizabeth Arnold during this time period! Does anyone have any information on Mordecai Hill or any of this family? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Joyce E. Lambert

    1. Petition to help protect Hill Burials
    2. S.K. Bramlett
    3. Please sign the petion below to help us get the promised file that will help us preserve and protect the Connally Cemetery In East Point Ga.. Some of the burials are HILL Surname. We are the East Point Heitage Foundation and we are volunteers that protect the Cemeteries of East Point Georgia. A file containg information that will help us to protect the cemetery was promised, timing is urgent but the party that promised to hand it over has delayed us for 5 months. We contact them and keep getting "When I have time". The manner is simply me driving over to pick it up, not a problem where more time is needed. I am hoping that the petition will shake this file loose so that we can use it to protect the cemetery, issues are present that put this cemetery in danger and the information would help in advocating for it's continued safety. Please sign the petition with a very kind request, maybe a wake up call as to how important this issue is for the party holding it. 1. Roll Call - Richard Joel Hill, Hannibal, Missouri
    2. Anthony Hill
    3. Good evening, Hill researchers. I thought I would jump on the 'roll call' bandwagon too. My brick wall is my paternal grandfather, Richard Joel Hill. RICHARD JOEL HILL born October 2, 1868 near Hannibal, MO (possibly as late as 1872/3) died March 13, 1940 (buried: Valhalla cemetary, N. Hollywood, CA) son of ?? & Betty/Eliza HANDLEY (HANLEY/HADLEY-?) Betty/Eliza was born circa 1854/5 in Missouri and died August 5, 1906 (in Kansas?) Betty/Eliza later married Walter F. McKee (March 21, 1975, Missouri). Richard married Anna McCUTCHAN (born about 1875 Evansville?, IN). They lived in/around Bismark, ND and eventually in Los Angeles, CA. Children: 1) Clara Wilhelmina 2) Emily Irene ("Betty") 3) Ethyl/Ethel Mae [b/1905] 4) Rose Ada [b/1912 5) Edward John [b/1915; d/1990] Anyone willing to share information about this line will be thanked warmly. - Tony Hill ______________________________________________________ Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. http://store.yahoo.com/redcross-donate3/

    2. Elaine Smith
    3. Looking for information on parents and children of RUFUS H. HILL b 10-7-1852 in Derby Line or Hollis, VT, and d 7-11-1924. Rufus m NELLIE A. MORSE b 9-22-1864 in Alexandria, NH, d 4-5-1905. This I know for sure. I think Rufus is the s of HOLLIS HILL and ELIZABETH ABBIE? (not sure). This is where things get a little fuzzy. When I wrote to the Grafton, NH and Orange, NH Town Clerks Office I received information from them stating that Rufus Hill's father was Hollis Hill and his mother was Elizabeth Abbie. But at the Vital Records Office in Concord, NH they show the parents as Hanley Hill and Hepzibath ???? (Unknown). 1860 Census shows Rufus in Brighton Township at age 9 living in the household of Ralph Fogg, listing birthplace as Canada. 1880 Census shows Rufus and Nellie in Grafton, NH in the household of Henry Ford, listing Rufus' birthplace as NH. The 1900 Census still shows Rufus & Nellie in Grafton but listing Rufus' birthplace as Vermont. They had a son Walter H. Hill (my g grandfather) b 6/2/1878 in Orange, NH. He d 6/1941 in Grafton, NH. Walter was married to Lora Jane Rollins, b 5/1/1879 d 3/1964 of heart failure in Concord, NH. Walter and Lora Jane had the following children: Burnice Nellie (my grandmother- m. Lewis R. Smith of Orange, NH), Raymond A (died at age 16), Dorothy J (m. Herbert Remmick of Groton, NH), Persons Wing (died at 10 months old), and Rufus (m. Pearl Lafond and had 5 children). Can anyone connect to my elusive Hill's?

    1. Hill Roll Call - Welsh HILLs
    2. Diana
    3. Greetings from the Land o' the Maple Leaf: Although my HILL connection is very distant I have recently "e-met" a person who is researching the same family. We would both like to know the origins of Samuel HILL of Clydach, Glamorgan, South Wales. Probably a Quaker from England, he moved to Morriston in Wales in the late 1700s and then to Clydach. He and his family after him were boat builders for the local canal. His sons were: Benjamin b.1801 Samuel b. 1810 John b. 1813 The boatbuilding business continued and they also opened a colliery in 1860 - Cwmdwr Cadi Anyone else out there researching this family? Best wishes, Diana-in-Canada

    2. Margaret Miesterfeld
    3. M.A. Cosgrove, I think that you can find your Hill family past 1800 by using the A.I.S. (Accelerated Indexing System) on microfiche at Family History Centers. This is a type of census using town records in the United States and you can track a family across the country starting with about 1600 using these microfiche. There are about seven searches you can do in these microfiche. When you find your ancestor in a town record you can then go to www.Familysearch.org to learn whether or not there are any microfilmed records for your time period. If there are microfilmed records you can order them for about $3.50 at the Family History Center.
