I have a Thomas Hill who was born 1815, also from TN. He lived in Marshall Co.,AL in Dec. 1838 as that is the date he married Rebecca Morton in that county. I also have a brick wall with this Thomas Hill, can't go back with any degree of certainty with his line. Patricia Camp-Mullis
Mrs. Joan Warren and I have exchanged information on the HILL Family for several years.. She apparently has changed her E Mail Address. If anyone can give me her current address, I would appreciate it. Even better would be for her to contact me. Gratefully Harold C. Fisher
It's been quite awhile since I've posted my Hill line. I'm not any further than I was several years ago............can't seem to get past John Hill b. ca 1815 TN and who we believe married Mary Pollie Glover. We find them in DeKalb Co.,TN where my great grandfather Henderson(Hense/Hins) Hill was b.Sept 1834, other siblings were Pleasant A.,Wm.R.,Thomas J.,Susan,Mary Jane. Sometime after the Civil War they moved to Davies Co.,KY where Henderson married Sarah Roberts/Robards. Henderson was married previously to Matilda Bennett but they divorced. If any of this sounds familiar I would like to compare notes. Thanks Nancy --------------------------------- Be a chatter box. Enjoy free PC-to-PC calls with Yahoo! Messenger with Voice.
Seeking information on FRANCES HILL who married 19 Nov 1626 to John BRONSON, immigrant ancestor. She died after 28 Nov 1680 perhaps at Framington, Hartford Co, CT. Anyone familiar with a HILL family at this time and/or place? She may have been the daughter of William Hill with his wife unknown. Luzerne County is the right area. Sounds as if there may be a connection. There was a German HILL line there at the same time, but I have been unable to connect James HILL (1763-1862) to this family. At this point all of the documents I've seen spell "TIDD" as TIDD and TID. There are several primary source documents in The Susquehanna Company Papers which I originally found at the University of Washington in Seattle. Martin TIDD, father-in-law to James, is referenced quite a bit. Martin's father John was killed and scalped by Indians at the outset of the French and Indian War (Seven Year's War). He was a fur trapper roaming this region at the time. This is documented in the Pennsylvania Archives. I have a ton of information and hope to write and publish a book one of these days. I am looking for direct male descendants of James HILL and Mary JORDAN of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, if any exist. The couple and their family are listed on the 1790 federal census. Mary died sometime after 1790 and before 1797 when James remarried Sarah TIDD. I am a descendant of James and Sarah. I am seeking male members of the HILL/JORDAN marriage to participate in the HILL DNA Project, http://www.hilldna.com. Thanks. Greetings, List, on Memorial Day Weekend. I am researching Swinfield Hill family lines, particularly the lines of descent from Swinfield Hill of Franklin Co., VA and Swinfield Hill of Burke Co., NC. A descendent of Swinfield Hill of VA, BILLY HILL of Mercer Co. WV, posted at Rootsweb in 2001, but his e-mail address is no longer valid. Can anyone help put me in touch with him? In addition, I am also hoping to identify any other male Hills who descend from any of the following Robert/Swinfield Hill family members, a number of whom settled in Mercer County, West Virginia (Kelleysville, Princeton, etc.) and Floyd Co., Virginia ROBERT Hill (b. Dublin, in 1713, d. 1778 in Henry Co. VA)+ VIALETTA LINUS (d. 1803 in Franklin Co., VA) SWINFIELD (b. 1749 in Chester Co, Pennsylvania; d. 1826 in Franklin Co VA)+MARTHA VAN BIBBER WILSON (b. ca. 1790 in Franklin Co VA) + NANCY LNAME_UNKNOWN ~WILSON HILL (b. ca. 1835 in Franklin Co.) + LUEMA A. JONES . ~~sons Peter Edward Hill, James Monroe Hill, Zachary Taylor Hill ~JAMES ROBERT HILL (b. 8 Sep 1837 in Franklin County, Virginia, d. 1886 in New River, WV) + DELILAH/MARTHA MORAN ~~sons from first wife DELILAH MORAN in Floyd Co. :Joseph Edmon Hill, James Wilson Hill, Thomas J. Hill, & Robert Joshua Lee Hill ~~sons from second wife MARTHA MORAN in Mercer Co. WV: Peter Alexander Hill, Andrew Johnson Hill, Cain B. Hill, Stephen V.Hill, Charles P. Hill, Wiley Hall Hill (Mercer Co WV) I descend from a NC/TN Hill family of Swinfield Hill (b. 1769 in Burke Co. NC, d. ca. 1867 in Carter Co. TN). We know that the VA Swinfield's sister Hannah marries in VA and settles in TN (as does his daughter Hannah) and believe that some of their descendents intermarry with NC/TN Hills, but we don't know if any of his male descendents do. A group of us NC/TN Hills are trying to establish or dispel persistent notions of a patrilineal connection. I would love to connect and share info, sources, & theories regarding these VA & NC/TN Hill lines. Many thanks and best wishes, Fran Hill No. California
Does anyone have a Eva Lane married to a Hill or possibly lived with a Hill family in the Toronto Ontario area.Any help would be appreciated.
Results on Genetic Testing Descendants of James HILL (b. 1763 in Pennsylvania, d. 1862 in Hardin County, Ohio) My original test was with Family Tree DNA as part of the HILL DNA Project, http://www.hilldna.com. FTDNA has predicted my haplogroup as I with strong indications of the subclade I1a. According to Relative Genetics my haplogroup is likely I1a. Most with the HILL surname are in haplogroup R, primarily R1b. Based on research and information provided by Ken Nordtvedt at his website, http://www.northwestanalysis.net/, my HILL line is Anglo-Saxon in origin, specifically within a transitional subclade whose ancestors eventually populated Scandinavia, becoming the majority of what is known as the Norse groups of haplogroup I. Using the map with percentages posted by Ken at http://www.northwestanalysis.net/Iweb5.jpg, the James HILL (1763-1862) paternal line is I1a-T (Transitional). This transitional group developed from the Anglo-Saxon lines which became the Norse lines. Currently I have not done any mtDNA testing. My African-American HILLs were slaves of the white HILLs of Bastrop County/Hills Prairie/Caldwell County, TX Areas. If any of these HILL descendants have information about any of these slaves, feel free to contact me. I look forward to learning and sharing about the HILLs in America through this list. Looking to confirm information on John Hill born about 1734/40 probably NH, believe John Hill married Lydia Fuller, she of Bolton CT. This family moved around a lot, lived in Surry and Alstead NH and Deerfield and Montague MA. A daughter, Sally, married in Montague in 1801 to Rodolphus Reed - they later went to Westfield VT. Other possible children, Anna (married a Shepherd?); Betsey, and Samuel born 13 Jan 1773 Alstead, Cheshire Co., NH. Seems that John Hill may have died in Surry NH between 1800 and 1810? Hoping to hear from anyone who has information on this John Hill family. Thanks Janice
