    1. 1794 PA. James HILL
    2. L J & JUDITH TESDAHL
    3. Mel, My Hill line. 1. James Hill born abt 1794 in PA. Wife Mary maiden name unknown born 1794 in New York state.. They were alive in 1850 in Knox County, Ohio. Living in Hillier township. Probably died between 1850 & 1860 If they are buried in Rich Hill Cemetery their graves are unmarked. If they moved to another part of the county, I don't know where. Children: Nathaniel Bm. Mary Ann Roberts, Rachel Hill married Aaron Harris, James married Mary Stull & Aaron. 2. James Hill, born 2 March 1819 - 5 Apr. 1857. Married 28 Apr. 1839 Knox County, Ohio. Mary Stull b. 4 Apr. 1819 -1 Nov 1855, daughter of George & Elizabeth Friend Stull. Their family consisting of James & Mary, their children, James, Elizabeth, George & Abraham went to Cumberland County, Illinois between June 1850-13 Dec. 1851. On 13 Dec. 1851 James & Mary Stull Hill sold, Mary's share of her father's land (George Stull) in Knox County, Ohio to her brother, Martin Stull. The deed was written in Cumberland County, Illinois and is signed by James & Mary Hill of Cumberland County, Illinois. Recorded in Knox County, Ohio Sometime after the death his wife Mary Stull, James married 2nd Mary Ann in Cumberland County,Illinois This is all I know of her name, as the records of Cumberland County were burned. The only way I know her name is from a letter written by my Elizabeth Hill, to the Stull Aunts. In 1860 after the death of her brother, George. Elizabeth wrote that Mary Ann was a mean person and all she wanted was the land James owned. She had not given the children any more then the clothes on their backs after their father James died. 1st Mary and James Hill died in Cumberland County, Illinois and are buried in unmarked some where near where they lived. They had bought land in Cumberland County, but it was sold and #2. Mary Ann Hill's name was on the deed. Both James & #1 Mary were born in Pennsylvania. No Idea where. In 1901 William & Elizabeth Hill Pepper came to visit her brother, James Hill. She gave him the family Bible saying she had had it a long time and it was time for him to have it. It passed on to James Alfred Hill with no other information in it. It has the birth and death of the James & Mary Stull Hill family. 3. Elizabeth Hill Pepper. My ancestor. I don't know the cause of death for the family. Since George died in 1860 he is on the Mortality Census. It doesn't list the cause of his death. 1. DNA Testing for James HILL (1763-1862) Line
    2. Aaron Hill
    3. Results from my genetic sample submitted to the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation Project have been added to the public yDNA database. http://www.smgf.org I am a direct male descendant of James HILL (b. 1763 in Pennsylvania d. 1862 in Hardin County, Ohio). He married Sarah TIDD, daughter of Martin TIDD. More marker results are available at the HILL DNA Project website, http://www.hilldna.com. My sample has been recently upgraded to include 37 markers from the original 25, although the website has not been updated yet to reflect this. The results are in Group 27. http://www.hilldna.com/results.html http://www.hilldna.com/Group27.htm James HILL may be a descendant of or at least related to Luke Hill who was born in 1613 in England. The link for the Luke HILL line DNA record is below: http://www.ysearch.org/search_view.asp?uid=FNEJQ&viewuid=2FJJJ&p=0 My Sorenson results match with the marker values at the HILL DNA Project. Unfortunately only 17 markers have been tested thus far, although DYS 462 is included. The marker result of 12 indicates the James HILL line is Anglo-Saxon in origin, likely emigrating to England from northern Germany. The results are number 2 (17/17) using the following link: http://www.smgf.org/ychromosome/search_results.jspx?markerOrder=smgf&labStandard=FamilyTreeDNA_v1&searchType=surname&surname=HILL&surnameType=approximate&showCountries=on&showMissingData=on&showAllSurnames=on&DYS385_a=13&DYS385_b=14&DYS426=11&DYS447=23&DYS461=13&DYS388=14&DYS437=16&DYS448=23&DYS462=12&DYS389I=12&DYS438=10&DYS449=27&DYS463=21&DYS389B=15&DYS439=12&DYS452=31&DYS464_a=12&DYS464_b=14&DYS390=23&DYS441=16&DYS454=11&DYS464_c=15&DYS464_d=15&DYS391=10&DYS442=12&DYS455=8&GGAAT1B07=11&DYS392=11&DYS444=12&DYS456=14&YCAII_a=19&YCAII_b=21&DYS393=13&DYS445=11&DYS458=16&YGATAA10=12&DYS394=15&DYS446=13&DYS459_a=8&DYS459_b=9&YGATAC4=22&DYS460=10&YGATAH4=11

    1. Rolla Bennett Hill 1891 - 1963 Memoirs.
    2. Nola Ochs
    3. Dear Hill researchers, Recently I secured (by Interlibrary loan) a copy of Memoirs of Rolla Bennett Hill 1891 -1963. 74 pages. His father was Charles Robert Hill "the tenth of thirteen children born on a homestead in central Illinois in 1869." The father married Lulu Morgan (from Morgan County, IL) early in 1891. Rolla says he was born in October of 1891 in Franklin, Illinois. Is there a town Franklin, or does he mean Franklin County, Illinois? ---- then the parents divorced. He had lived in Clinton, Missouri where the father had a married sister. Later the father, Charles Robert Hill and son, Rolla, were in Rathdrum, Idaho. He mentions an Uncle George --- and Aunt Emma. Then his father and son returned to "Illinois where the paternal grandparents lived" --- "My grandparents were Isaac Hill and Sarah Daugherty. He was born in April, 1827, on Webb's Prairie in southern Illinois. His father, Richard, had moved there from Kentucky many years before with his father, also Isaac , who was a staunch citizen and a pillar of the Baptist Church. This first Isaac was killed when they were raising the roof of a new church at Webb's Prairie. His father, John W. had come to Kentudky from North Carolina ---" This may or may not be of interest to someone --- Nola (Hill) in KS.

    3. I do not know if I am descended from this couple; however, my oldest proven ancestor is Rial Hill (alternately spelled Ryal and Royal) born, probably, in North Carolina about 1795. I don't know if there may be a connection between his name Rial/Ryal/Royal and Nancy Royalty. Just thought I would make this information known. David Hill North Carolina
