In my family I have a Jesse Bell Hill, but he lived in Morgan county. I'm not sure where he was born. If this rings a "bell" with you, contact me for more info. He was married to Etta Mae Anderson. Please note that Ancestry does not support SPAMMERS. It is someone who has snuck into the system and they work hard everyday working against these folks. Don't think that RootsWeb or Ancestry are behind this. I am sure they will be taking a look at it and hopefully will figure it out soon. Byron has tried banning this email address (at AOL), but apparently whoever it is has found a way around this. Please be patient. Aaron
It may very well be a SPAMMER who is using that AOL account. It looks like a computer is testing access to the list. Why would you unsubscribe from a good list just because one stupid person uses the "F" word? We don't need to be THAT sensitive! Anita HILL Tally
MrMayor, >From what I have read of your emails, it appears that YOU may be a Spammer. Much of your information is useless, taking up the valuable time of bonefide HILL researchers. Let Byron Administrate the HILL list. We are perfectly happy with him and the job HE is doing. Thank you for NOT cluttering up the HILL list in the future with useless prattle. Are you SURE you are a HILL? Wanda Hill Hamblen no time for X Spurts
I have talked about Sorenson every chance I get, just look at the archives. There are tons of messages. Investigate before sending money in the future. I am using Sorenson as a database to confirm and verify my own results from FTDNA. (And I convinced my brother to submit a sample as well.) Helen, you complain and whine too much (in my opinion). Aaron From: "helen sabin" <hsabin@cox.net> Reply-To: hill@rootsweb.com To: <hill@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [HILL] DNA Testing Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2006 17:07:11 -0700 YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD Aaron!! Woo Hoo! It is much, much, much, much more generic! Broad and vague is the way I would describe the MtDNA testing for women and the results you get - worthless is another way I would describe it. Yeah - now you tell us about the Sorenson project!! Why didn't you mention this before I spent over $200. on the MtDNA worthless and valueless to genealogy research mtDNA test? Huh? Next time put it in BIG letters so we notice! Helen Sabin
Scotty, As I have described before, the HILL DNA Project is for men who are direct descendants of someone named HILL. Because of the problems with AOL, we have had a hard time communicating, but from what I remember you are not a direct descendant of a HILL. Or am I wrong? Your yDNA would be HARTIGAN not HILL, unless you have a different surname than your father for some reason. Let me know if you still have questions, etc. Aaron From: Javbst@aol.com Reply-To: hill@rootsweb.com To: hill@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HILL] dna testing Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2006 20:15:43 EDT I support the DNA testing if that can be a useful tool for research, though I asked Aaron about Hill DNA testing and in emails to me he replied that since I wasnt a Hill it was for only, I also was told that by one of the testing labs noted here in the discussion ... yet my great grandfather was a Hill and my grandmother a Hill, so I really dont understand the exclusionary basis of this testing. I believe 'ToddsRoots@aol.com' may have a computer virus or worm. Aaron

This is not relevant to modern-day DNA testing. It doesn't apply. Whether a person believes in evolution or creation has no relation to what a marker result will be. You may find the following links useful: http://www.isogg.org/ http://www.isogg.org/tree/index.html http://ycc.biosci.arizona.edu/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_genealogy From: "DixieMom" <southerncross@pgtc.com> Reply-To: "DixieMom" <southerncross@pgtc.com> To: <mrmayor@hotmail.com> Subject: dna testing Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2006 17:04:43 -0500 Hi Aaron, I was just curious about scientific models. I am not a scientist. I was only a biology major in college. People who are involved in research will tell you that the model a study is based on can very well make a difference in the results. I do not know if these results would differ in the case of a creation model vs. an evolution model. Would a difference in millions of years vs. thousands make any difference? I do wonder if they would. That is all. Science isn't all "pure" as most of us have been led to believe. Recent example: Pluto. There are lots more. People have to remember "science" is only observing, testing, and repeating, and stating what happens. Probably because I have studied in the field of science, albeit only 4 years, and my husband does scientific research for some big companies, we have seen how "research" can be skewed to make it say whatever the money behind it wants it to say. Sad, but true. Honest research is wonderful. I am all for it. And maybe DNA testing is OK. And maybe even accurate. I am just being careful not to jump on its bandwagon YET. :) Donna
