Hi, I have a family lineage done many years ago that I am trying to verify. I am looking for information on William Henry Hill (generation 9) and his father John Green Hill (generation 8). According to the 1850 Census records of Wayne County, Tennessee William Henry Hill was was 24; a farmer; born in Tennessee. He was living with his wife Elizabeth also 24 years of age and children Mary 4, Vashti 2, and S.B. Williams 15, also a listed as a farmer. All in this family are listed as being born in Tennessee. Evidently William Henry Hill took a job with the railroad and the next census record I can find him is in the 1870 Richland County, Illinois Census. This time however Elizabeth, his wife, is listed as being born in North Carolina. Does anyone have any information on WILLIAM HENRY HILL 's place of birth or his father JOHN GREEN HILL? This is the family I am trying to verify: Descendants of Robert HILL 1. ROBERT HILL. 2.ROBERT HILL, b. 1612; d. Abt. 1670. He married MARY WEBB. 3.SION HILL, b. Abt. 1653; d. Abt. 1704. He married MARY ELMA NOE. 11. MATTHEW WILLIAM HILL, b. June 26, 1894 in Bozeman, MT; d. February 28, 1989 in Olympia, WA. He married IRMA YOUNG mAY 17, 1924 in Seattle, WA. She was b. HILL Hunters: Still trying to make connections to my Randall HILL and spouse Luisa (Louisa?) and family who show up on early TN tax lists and Census in Jefferson and Sevier Counties before 1830 until 1850s. Precious little is known of this TN family. Their daughter Rebecca Ann HILL (b. TN c. 1832) md. widower GREENBERRY HANCE in 1847 and they moved to Pulaski Co. MO by 1850. Three more children recorded: George Washington HANCE (1848 TN), Mary Ann HANCE (1850-1 MO), and James Randall HANCE (1855 MO). Family legend states these HILL, HANCE, LAIGHT families were connected. My southern lines not only include these given names of GREENBERRY but PERMELIA, Parthenia/Parthena, and other popular names of the time and region. Surnames of LAIGHT, SANDERS, GAGE, RUTLEDGE, McCay/McCOY, ECTOR, BARNES, WILLIAMS, REDDICK of SC, VA, TN, GA, AL, MS. Connected to Hale, Birdwell, Jones, Woods, Simrell, Davis, Sarott, Denton, Bunch, Belton, Hufft, James, Roberts, Hubble, Griffin, Brown, McCourtney. I'm a new subscriber to your list - I've been searching the archives for info on this family. Can anyone help? I'm exploring the possibility that I am descended from Jenny, who I think married William SMITH and moved to Cocke Co., TN in the 1830's. Cocke Co., TN is a burned county. I'm wondering if my Wm. SMITH could be a brother to Hannah SMITH that married Jenny's brother, Elias MITCHELL. Who were the parents of Millie HILL? Mildred, "Millie", is a very familiar name. My grandmother was Alice Mildred, and she had an aunt that was also named Mildred "Millie" SMITH.. The name Permelia was also used among the descendants of my "Jennie". Just started a family search on John Hill. Very little information known other than he is my grandfather. He and my grandmother, Lucettie Catherine Parker Bost married around late 1915 or early 1916. We were told this took place in Taft, TN though they actually lived in Madison County, AL. He disappeared before my father was born in Sept. of 1916 and then supposedly reappeared for a short time when my father was between one and two years old. He then disappeared again shortly after this. The only info we have is that he was supposed to have been a good cabinet maker and that he came from the "North". Of course, this could have been TN or anywhere else. We are really trying to make a connection to some other Hills if anyone can help please email me at nichrd@HIWAAY.net. Thanks. Debora Hill Nichols

I am researching my Kansas Hill family. My gg grandmother, Dora Minerva Hill, was born August 21, 1860 in Richwood, Ohio. She came with her family to Chanute, Neosho, Kansas 1876. She married John J. McCowan January 1, 1878. Her death certificate lists NOEL HILL and MIN CASE as parents. I have found some land records of a NEWELL HILL and RACHEL MINERVA HILL. I also found record of a NEWELL HILL marrying a MINERVA CASE in Delaware County, Ohio May 7, 1839. The same day that Dora Hill married John McCowan a CECIL HILL born abt. 1856 married MARY MCCOWAN. (January 1, 1878). Dora states that her father (NOEL/NEWELL HILL) was born in Virginia and her mother (RACHEL MINERVA CASE) was born in Ohio on the census. The family resided in Vermillion County, Illinois between 1869 and 1876. Does anyone see a possible connection to these Hills? Susie Meyer dsmeyer@alaska.net
