    1. [HILL-L] Hawthorne cemetery
    2. George Watson
    3. To the lady in southwest NV who wrote last Friday to George Watson ca passing thru Hawthorne, NV & her offer to take pictures of Henry Hill & family in the cemetery there. We rec'd your email but before could answer it, our computer crashed! I didn't get to copy your name, email address nothing. We appreciate your gracious offer to take pictures of the tombstones there in the cemetery. Geo had recorded the markers in the Hawthorne City Cemetery when there but he didn't have a camera at the time. There was no visible tombstone to Henry Hill, but there is a large monument to his daughter, Marian L. Hill Hitchens, & two footmarkers to Henry's wife, Ellen M. (Nellie) (Flannery) Hill (actually one to her & one to a child we think). Anyway, we do appreciate your offer and wish we could have contacted you before you went. Perhaps on you next trip we can ans & give directions WITHOUT the computer crashing! It's taken us since last Friday to get all the programs, etc. loaded back, etc. Thanks again. George Watson

    3. Hi All- I think I may have found my brick wall. If so, his name is Eben HILL, son of Jedediah Hill and Abigail Kilby. He was born 1791 in CT and died 1876 in Kossuth, Iowa. He was a veteran of the War of 1812. He had five brothers that I know of: Jedediah Jr., John H., Riley, Ludlow, and Ladue. I don't know about any sisters. So now, I'm looking for his wife and children. The only one I know of is my g-g-grandfather, James Melvin Hill. If anyone has information on this line, please let me know. Thank you. 3. Hi, I have a partial register of descendents of Sgt. James Hill of Amherst County, VA: 1. James Hill b. Jun 1758, Amherst Co. Va, occupation farmer, m. Ann Overton, d. bef 1831. James died 1831, Amherst Co, VA. owned a large farm in Mt. Moriah Church Area (Percy, 91) on Lynch Road, not far from Amherst Courthouse (McFerrin, 12 Feb 1994); received pay as corporal in Samuel JOrdan Cabell's Company of the 6th Virginia Batallion of Continental Forces commanded by Lt. Col. James Hendricks for July 1777. LDS Genealogical index suggests James Hill b. 1758 the sone of another James Hill (perhaps b. 1736, Amelia Co) perhaps one enlistment is for the father; alternatively since James Hill appears on Ewell's payroll for 1779....James Hill granddaughter Elizabeth Robinson married Thomas Hutcheson, Jr., whose father Thomas Hutcheson, Sr., reportedly served in Ewell's Company also; will of James Hill recorded in book 9 page 117 of Amherst county, written in 1818 and probated 6/18/1831; wife Anne was dead at the time of his death. Children: Nancy, James b. 1779, Tabitha b. 28 Oct 1781, Francis b. cir 1782, Permelia. Hope this if of some help to you. 1. [HILL-L] James Russell Hill in TN & MO 1800's
    2. Robert L. Reese
    3. Dear Jane, (Lena, Alta, list), This is in regards to emails to the list on 8/27/99, 8/31/99, and 9/12/99. I am interested in my wife's line beginning with James R (Russell) Hill. My genealogist did much more than me and all of the following about James comes from her. So far we estimated that he was born in the 1815-1818 range in AL or TN. He was married first to Lucinda McCormack, b 1826, on 14 May 1844 in Ripley Co., MO. Later he married Ellender (we didn't have her last name) before 1860. James R Hill had 12 children that we accounted for. The fifth child, William R (Russell?) was b Mar 12,1856 in Alley Spring, Shannon Co. MO, m to Georgia Ann Mahala McSpadden on Sep 9, 1886 in Eminence, Shannon, MO, and d Oct 13, 1934 in Georgetown, White Co., AR. Georgia's second husband was John Piner Chambers was born in Obion Co., TN, and interestingly, James Russell Hill was born about 1817 in Obion Co., TN according to the email from Jane on 9/12/99. William R Hill's children included Orpha V, Lulu C, Samuel M, Permelia J, Osee A, Onard A (Anthony?), Rufus Barto, and Arthur (C.,V, E.?). Sources of info include the censuses from Shannon Co., MO for 1850, 60, 70, and 80. My wife's line goes thru Rufus Barto Hill, Then George Weston Hill to her. I will forward this email and any responses to my genealogist. I will be glad to put individuals in contact with her. Of course we would like to find James R Hill's parents, firm up details including dates, places, wives lines, etc. Thanks for your input. Bob Reese, Tucson, AZ
