    1. [HILL-L] Still Looking
    2. lena
    3. I am still looking for the start of my Hill line. All I know is that my great grandfather came from Kentucky to Missouri. Don't know about date of birth or any siblings, parents. He married David ANNIE Dunbar 1874. They lived in Missouri.... 8 children were born of this marriage. First was Charles Herbert 1877, Burl/Burly (my grand father), Zay, Molle/Sophia, James, Perry, Zeffie, and Roscoe.. Roscoe was born in 1892. On David Annie's death certificate it says Russell died 1892, but not where, and the question of him being alive in 1892 is questionable. David Annie's mother is unknown and father was Thomas. She remarried in 1896 to Lawrence Duffey, and she died in 1923 in RIchmond Missouri.. I have all kinds of information on the children of her and Russell, but nothing to help with finding where Russell was from, who his parents were and where he died in Missouri. lena@valu-line.net

    1. [HILL-L] Isaac P. Hill from Kentucky
    2. I am searching for Isaac P. Hill, born about 1813 somewhere in KY. He married Margaret Hill (cousin?) from Indiana in 1837. They married in Jennings County, IN. They had the following children, all in Indiana: Julian (abt. 1839), James Allen (1841), John Thomas (1844), George P. (1847) and Harold J. (1849). They showed up on the 1850 Honey Creek, Clinton county, IN census, then on the 1860 Burleson County, Texas census. One of Isaac's sons, John Thomas was married four times...first to Arabella Leedom. They had five children, all born in Burleson County, TX. Anthony, Commodore Perry Hill (1867), Maggie (abt. 1873), Edwin Guy (1875) and John H. (1878). Isaac possibly had a brother, Thomas, born somewhere in KY in about 1827. He married Elizabeth Diehl from OH and they had four children: William W. (about 1849), George Washington (Abt 1851), James H. (born about 1855) and Erastus born about 1858 in Texas. They also were in the same community in Indiana in 1850 and moved to the same area in Texas by 1860, probably about 1857. Isaac and Thomas may or may not have been related to William W. Hill, also from KY. He moved to Texas earlier than the other two, but to the same area. He was supposedly from Somerset, Pulaski, KY. Any information on the above, especially some KY clues would be greatly appreciated...if we don't fit, thanks for taking the time to check. Good luck in YOUR research! Jan Hall

    1. [HILL-L] Daniel Hill - MA
    2. After some digging through the dusty ole Mass. Archives I found the death information on Elizabeth - wife of the elusive Daniel Hill ( b. ~1790) I'm trying to find. Found his death too but alas the reel I needed stopped 3 pages before his info - oh well. Back to Elizabeth. She was born in St. Andrew's New Brunswick and her parents - Joel Barney (could be Burney) and Elizabeth Kelly were from Maine. Maybe Daniel wasn't from Boston as previously thought either!! They moved to Boston and had the first 6 of their 10 children there before moving to Scituate, MA. Would love to hear from anyone with even potentially pertinent info. Thanks. Jane

    3. Date: Fri, 8 Oct 1999 11:51:41 -0500 From: Larry & Kaye Wallace <lrwallac@INET-DIRECT.COM> Subject: Has anyone seen this WANTED man > Hill researchers, > Has anyone see this man on the Ky or Tn census or anywhere with his family? HILL, JOSEPH Shields Oct 6, 1861 Sep 8, 1917. He is buried in Craighead Co., Arkansas, but where he was born is a mystery, the census states TN, but do not have any idea who whis parents were. He married a Fitzgerald girl that was born in Fentress Co., Tn., and later she and her family moved to Monroe, then Barren and on to Hart Co., KY. Lost her family from there. Census states Joseph's mother born in Tn, father in NC. Census and Toomb stone, which was "Woodman of the World" stone doesn't match date of birth on census. Joseph may have had two brothers, John, and Will. Joseph's children middle names were Shields, Jones, and Lee. These names are not on his wife's side of the family that I have found. Have not been able to find him on any documentation until 1889/90 tax records in Izard Co., Arkansas moving to Fulton Co., Arkansas. I have copy of a picture of him working on Railroad. > > PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE > THANKS IN ADVANCE. > KAYE >

    2. Seeking information on the family of: George W. & Sarah (WILSON) HILL who married 12 Mar. 1881, Sidney, Fremont, IA. Old family letter says they lived somewhere in western Iowa. Syblings of Sarah moved in 1870's & 1880's to various parts of the U.S. > ID, MO, NE, CA. but I cannot locate George and Sarah in these or any other state in the 1900 census. According to the marriage record and census when at home with his parents, George was b. 1852-1854, IA or IL. Sarah was sister of my 2nd grt. grandfather and she was b. ca 1855 in Salt Creek Twp., Davis, IA. Anyone have this couple in their family? Any clue's appreciated. Carolyn Murphy

    1. [HILL-L] Hills...Chesterfield Co VA 1700s
    2. Fellow Hill Researchers: Pretty nuch everywhere I research I find myself surrounded by Hills, but I am told that is true of names after land forms (just my luck, grandparents Hill and Marsh). I have checked out of the library books that contain Chesterfield Co VA deeds 1749-1768. There are these Hills: Edward (many), Godfrey,Humphrey (I actually have his will copied when I was copying something else from a VA periodical), James (many), John, Mary, Sarah. Edward and James clearly are the major Hill heads of household. More than one Hill married, or had relations of some kind with my Baughs there (but not direct lines I don't think). If anyone is interested, let me know, and I will try to post to the list. Janet (Baugh) Hunter
