    1. [HILL-L] parents of John HILL who m. Annie Naomi CAMP
    2. Larry Blackman
    3. Help!!! Now I am in a quandry!! I thought John HILL, b. 1760 who married Annie Naomi CAMP was the son of Abel HILL and Elizabeth WAGGONER. Today, I got a message that has the following info and was wondering which was right. Is there any proof to either direction? "The John Hill who married Annie Namomi Camp, was the son of Carter Hill, and Dorcas Tabith Hosch. Dorcas Tabith Hosch was the third child of Mathew Hosch and Mary Hill. Mathew and Mary's 5th child, Elizabeth Ellen Hosch, is my G-G-Grandmother. So, I guess that is a cousin of sorts isn't it? I have the information on the Hosch side of the family, back a couple of generation before Mathew Hosch, if you would like those. Many of these people married cousins. I am related to the Mobley line, and I bet you end up having Mobley relatives, too. Come to think of it, the ( Mother of my Elizabeth Ellen Hosch, and your Dorcas Tabith Hosch) Mary Hill's mother, was Dorcas Mobley. Dorcas Mobley was married to her first cousin, William Hill, Jr. Okay, that means you are in the terrible searh for William Hill Jr's roots, just like me. William Hill Jr's dad was William Hill, Sr. We know he came to SC from VA, and before that aliens must have planted him!!!" Elaine Blackman

    2. I don't have any dates really but here goes what I have, and if anyone can help please do. I have hit nothing but brick walls. Starting with my ggg grandfather - Stephen Hill who married a Mary Stewart (which came from Scotland up the St. James river). They married in South Carolina and moved to Athens, TN. The only names of the son's they had that I am aware of are Abner Hill and John Hamilton Hill. John Hill married a Margaret (middle name Bula?) Parce. She came from the Bird clan (cherokee). John and Margaret had my grandmother Jenny June Hill, and the following children - Bess (lived in oklahoma), Molly, Floyd, Walter, John, Valley, Alma, Marie and Sadie (wow!) My grandmother "Junie" is what we called her, then married into the Young generation and so on. Pinky

    3. I can't believe I haven't found a link with this family and it's only 2 generations back! I'm still looking for Nancy E. Hill born in Arkansas in 1851, d: 3/21/1930. She married Samuel M. Kelley. Somewhere, sometime, I got in my information that Nancy's father was from Alabama and her mother was from Mississippi. (I hate it when I don't list my sources and it come back to haunt me!) I know the Kelley family relocated to Mississippi where their children were born. Happy Halloween Rhonda

    3. Hi, I am a new subscriber to this list. I have had this reference filed under my Drury data for awhile and it taunted me with hints, but I could not find the connections to know how to use the hints. Then, yesterday my mother mentions - out of the blue - that she remembers her uncle Walter Drury telling her how they had Drury kin in Virginia that she'd never met! Her Drury line came from England to Anne Arundel County, MD in the mid-1700s. Then her branch came to Washington, D.C. She isn;t sure where in Virginia Walter said, but she knows that the Potomac was mentioned and she thinks there was something said about being south of Alexandria. I immediately started searching for Drury in Virginia! At the Latter Day saints site, Family Search, I found a Jerningham Drury (Drewry) in Nansemond, Virginia...I also found: 1.) Jurningham DREWRY;Spouse: Sarah HILL Marriage: 1790 Anne Arundel, Maryland;Batch number: M533511. So, I am wondering if Jerningham/Jurningham went to Nansemond, Virginia from Maryland. This would make geographic sense... I also have the original reference to Jurningham Drury: In the book- Heirs and Orphans: AA Co, Md Distributions 1788-1838 by Walter Arps, Page 15: "Mr. Charles Drury administrator of Hester Drury late of AA Co. deceased. 26 Jan 1797. Surieties: Jurningham Drury + Abel Hill. Ninths of the estate balance to: Sarah Hodge, William Drury, the two children of Elizabeth Cowley (unnamed), Margaret Pindell, Mary Simmons, Ann Brown, Charles Drury, Samuel Drury + Juningham Drury; page 18: Mr. Charles Drury executor of Mary Ann Wood late of AA Co., deceased. 22 Nov. 1803. Sureties: Cephas Childs + Juningham Drury, Ann Brown, legacy of a negro; the remainder of the balance to Margaret Pindell d/o John Pindell" There are multiple references to HILL in Anne Arundel and Nansemond.. Does anyone on this list have any info on these Hill folks or on the Drury connection to Virginia? Thanks to all!
