Dear Hill Researchers, We can now identify 3 of those 9 sons of Isaac Hill and Mary Barnes, namely James, John, and Richard. Can someone identify Isaac HILL whose Marriage Bond to Elizabeth ROBLIN, 20 March 1823, was signed by David Barns? Source: Marriage Bonds, Book 24, page 850. Rowan County, NC. Thanks, Nola (Hill) in KS.
Hi, Hill family researches. This is my first time into your group and I was hoping for some assistance. I have two "Hill" questions and once finding a link, I have lots to share with some 50 families. First, I have a "Mary Hill" who married David Short Goodloe b. 7/26/1776 Granville Co., N.C., d. 10/13/1854 Tuscumbia, Colbert Co., Al.. I have that Mary was born 1781 Tuscumbia Co., Al., d. 9/16/1831 Granville Co., N.C. and was the daughter of Thomas Hill II and Susan Parham Johnson. I have no other information on the Thomas's. Where do I fit in on this line? Second, I have another Hill family, or should I say, the elusive Hill family. I am looking for the family genealogy of Alfred Hill for many years Alfred G. Hill b. 10/12/1788 Chapel Hill, Orange County, N.C., d. 3/27/1847 Henderson, Ky., m. 1829 Chapel Hill, N.C., Mary Elliot McCormick b. 2/15/1805 Rockbridge Co., Va., d. 7/14/1856 Henderson, Ky. Both are buried in Fernwood Cemetery, Lot 514 Henderson, Ky. Children: 1)+ Napoleon Bonaparte Hill b. 6/28/1831, d. 4/26/1903 Henderson Co., Ky., m. 2/25/1864 Elizabeth Frances Harrison 2) Homer Hill b. 4/27/1834, d. 10/18/1872, buried in Lot 513 Fernwood Cemetery -Never married 3)+ George Herschel Hill b. 8/5/1836, d. 4/3/1883 Henderson, Ky., m. 1880 Cornelia Allen M wife takes off from Napoleon Bonaparte Hill and we are looking into who are his parents, etc. Thank you all very much, hope your holidays are well. My Hill questions have another story as the "Thomas Hill" is on my side and Alfred is on my wife's. This is one of my two families that I am trying to link together. I have another "Savage Line" that is also close but no cigars. Lee Gallivan vlgallivan@aol.com
Dear Hill Researchers, I would like to contact a descendant of James HILL, born 1808 in KY, as his parents, Isaac Hill-Mary BARNES, migrated from Rowan/Surry County, NC through TN and KY into White County, IL, in time for the 1820 Census there. James married Lucinda JOHNSON in Hamilton County, IL 29 August 1852. Their children: Myrandy HILL b. 1853; Harriet HILL-HOOD b. 1855; and John HILL born 1858 in Hamilton County, IL. >From another list: Many wishes to you and yours for a happy Thanksgiving and want to share with you a story Two Cookies A woman was waiting at an airport one night, With several long hours before her flight. She hunted for a book in the airport shops, Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop. She was engrossed in her book but happened to see, That the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be, Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between, Which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene. So, she munched the cookies and watched the clock, As the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock. She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by, Thinking, "If I wasn't so nice, I would blacken his eye." With each cookie she took, he took one too, When only one was left, she wondered what he would do. With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh, He took the last cookie and broke it in half. He offered her half, as he ate the other, She snatched it from him and thought... "Oooh, brother. This guy has some nerve and he's also rude, Why he didn't even show any gratitude!" She had never known when she had been so galled, And sighed with relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate, Refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate. She boarded the plane, and sank in her seat, Then she sought her book, which was almost complete. As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise, There was her bag of cookies, in front of her eyes. If mine are here, she moaned in despair, The others were his, and he tried to share. Too late to apologize, she realized with grief, That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief. How many times in our lives, have we absolutely known that something was a certain way, only to discover later that what we believed to be true ...was not? -- Author Unknown Happy Thanksgiving, DJ
Hello People - I am looking for help again. I have come upon that brick wall we all hear about. Would someone advise me on how I could go over it, around it, under it, or through it. I am looking for the parents of Henry Hill. Born in 1710 in Rampton, Nottingham. He was married to a Anne Smith. They had five children - Anne, Christerana, Elizabeth, Jonathan, and Henry. Is there any way of finding out who his parents were. In the IGI it states, no parents listed. Russ Hill rhhill@capecod.net

Well fellow list members, I'm off to Germany, Czech Republic, and Austria for their Christmas Market Tour. The only thing bad is that there is no time for genealogy while I am there. So I will be off the list till I return, Have a Happy Holiday Season Rhonda Chesnutt
I made one little mistake on my previous posting. Thomas Hill is the brother of Sion Hill AND the son of Green Hill. Previously, I posted that Thomas was the brother of Green Hill. Sorry for the misinformation. My advice is to put together a short query or statement and post it to the list that shows what line you have research on. Just keep it brief in the beginning, then follow-up with more details only with those who contact you. This is better than bogging the list down with lineage information that all 825 researchers would not be interested in. I hope this helps. Byron Hill
