Looking for siblings of James Melvin Hill. They could be anywhere. James Melvin Hill was born in Lewis County, NY, in 1819. He was married in Erie County, OH, in 1844. He was on the 1850 census in Sabine Parish, Louisiana. His father's name was Eben or Ebenezer Hill. It's possible that Eben's middle name began with "B" or "R". If your family fits the fits the first part of this migration pattern, I would be interested in hearing from you. Willing to share all I have on this family. Thanks. Carol Kilgore osogreat@zianet.com

Richard: I wonder if you have found any information on a Dr. Moses Hill family from NY State. I do not know the county. Dr. Moses Hill had a son also named Moses and at least one other child named Laura Hill who was born in 1815 in NY. The family moved to LaGrange IN in the early 1830s where Laura married Washington Adams in 1832. Thank you for your help. My 3rd great grandfather James William Hill married Mahala George (daughter of Robert Moody George and Martha/Patsy Porter) on 21 September 1843 in Floyd county Kentucky. Believe that James William died abot 1847/1848. Mahala is back in her father's household in the 1850 Floyd County Census with her two children William Hill age 5 and Cynthia Alice Hill age 4 (my 2nd great grand mother) About 10 years ago packed up my genealogy when I moved and had started to unpack about 6 months ago. Had James William Hill listed as a son of Spencer Hill and Lucy Ramey. Had not been able to find my documentation or my reasoning why I had placed him with Spencer Hill and not with som of the other Hills that were in the area around the same time period. Would like to exchange information with anyone working on this family group, or anyone that has knowledge where James Will Hill belongs Kayleene Lowe
Searching for FREDERICK TORRANCE HILL, a judge in Burlington, VT, my 2nd great grandfather. He had three daughters, ANNA (who married Charles DURAND of Lake Forest, IL; Mary (who married Mr. Terwilliger); and my great grandmother-ROSAMOND ADELA HILL born in JERICHO, VERMONT. (Frederick Torrance Hill's daughter, my great grandmother Rosamond Adela Hill, was also in the Chittenden line.) On World Family Tree volume 3 there is a Hill listing but it has an ERROR that I am sure of--Anna Hill, who married Mr. Durand is listed in that tree with siblings who were not hers. My great grandmother, Rosamond Adela Hill, moved to Chicago after the death of parents to live with her sister Anna C. Durand and Anna's husband Charles. Rosamond became a school teacher, and in 1884 in Chicago met and married Edmund MacClanahan, a lawyer and Confederate Civil War Veteran who went to Chicago after the war but died early in the marriage, after having had 2 children, of tuberculosis contracted during the war. First of their children, Kinloch, died at age 2 of TB caught from his father, and a 2nd child, (my grandmother) Anne ELizabeth CALDWELL MacClanahan. Anne E.C.MacClanahan married SIR WILFRED GRENFELL, medical missionary of Labrador and Newfoundland. Frederick Torrance Hill belonged to the Congregationalist Church in either CHARLOTTE, JERICHO or UNDERHILL, VERMONT. The Hill family CEMETERY is in Underhill, Vermont. In World Family Tree Volume 3, a JAMES HILL born 1860 died in CALDWELL COUNTY, KENTUCKY was married to an ELIZABETH CHITTENDEN, born February 17, 1762. This is the right lineage but I can't figure out the link between James Hill and my ancestor, Frederick Torrance Hill. Am assuming that is somehow why my grandmother, Anne Elizabeth Caldwell MacClanahan Grenfell got her middle name of Caldwell. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Susie Phillips
One last try: Does anyone have any information on Rev. Nicholas Hill born Dec. 22, 1766, Schenectady, NY, son of Henry Hill and Martha Forsden, grandfather and father natives of Londonderry (Derry?), Ireland. Served 5 years in the Rev. War as a boy along with his brother as muscisians in the 1st NY Regiment left a Sgt. with a citation signed by Washington for his 5 years service. Became a Methodist Local Preacher in 1803. His son Nicholas considered the best Lawyer in Albany, NY, his grandson was killed in the Civil War less than 10 years after his grandfather died. Spent most of his life in the town of Florida, Montgomery County, NY. Thanks Kenneth Jones Town Historian Esperance, NY 12066

Cindy and Hill List: I am looking for the ancestors and family of Dr. Moses Hill who was living in LaGrange County in the 1830s. He had a son also named Moses and a daughter named Laura. I know that Laura Hill was born in NY state about 1815 so assume that Dr. Moses Hill also lived there before going to LaGrange. There seems to be quite a few Hill families living in Indiana in the early 1830s. That area was thinly settled at that time so it seems a little strange to have so many Hill family's moving there. Perhaps some of the Hill researchers will have an explanation for this fact. Thanks for help. Perry Adams Cindy Anderson wrote: > Looking for the Hill family living in Wayne Co, Indiana in 1820's. A newbie needs valid connections /location detail for his oldest HILL ancestor. That ancestor is John B. HILL - born in NC and later resided (as family members were born) in Itawamba County Mississippi, Saline County Arkansas, and Caddo Parish Louisiana. He was born 25 Nov. 1829 and died 15 Dec. 1888. He was married at least twice - first to Mary Ann (?) and later to Martha Ellen - precise dates unknown. Might someone have additional info on this person?
