Whether it was actually Shenandoah County or referring to the Shenandoah Valley area I don't know. I did see some mention of it on several other lists some time back, but didn't go into it myself due to the expense (?) and also because I think it works best with the paternal line... But Lee came from these counties so it could be he was in the same place and it just appears that he was moving around. He says his parents are from NC. He seems to be the first Hill in the area. I came across several volumes entitled "The Tennessee Civil War Veterans Questionnaires" compiled by Dyer and Moore, which I found fascinating. Apparently sometime around 1919 and into the 1920's Civil War veterans were tracked down and invited to complete extensive questionnaires regarding their experiences before, during and after the Civil War. There wonderful first hand accounts were published alphabetically. The following transcript, from Vol. III, is for William I. Hill of McMinnville, TN, who was 77 yrs. old when he completed the questionnaire. (By way of family background, William Isaiah HILL was b. July 23, 1845 McMinnville, Warren Co., TN and married Jeannie ETTER Jan. 26, 1869 in McMinnville, TN. He was the son of James Washington Hill b. Nov. 1, 1822 Warren Co., TN amd Mary Polly Simms b. Aug. 12, 1823 Dry Creek, TN. James W. Hill's father was Isaac Hill b. abt. 1804 TN who married Francis Pickett, and Isaac's father was Benjamin J. I have been unable to find Richard with a family in the 1850 Census. Supposedly he was born in Illinois. Anyone recognize this familiy? Kristin Robinson

The family relocated to Water Valley,Yalobusha Co., Mississippi. And parts later relocated to Louisiana. 2. i. Morris F.2 Kelly. 3. ii. James H. Kelley, b. 1869, Mississippi; d. July 05, 1928. iii. Samuel W. Kelley, b. March 1870, Mississippi 4. iv. Walter S. Kelley, b. 1872, Mississippi. v. Frank Kelley, b. 1874, Mississippi. vi. Matilda D. L. Kelley, b. 1878, 5. vii. Mae Evelyn Kelley, b. January 10, 1879, Water Valley, Yalobusha Co., Mississippi; m. Samuel Hickman Weakley d. August 9,1909, Oklahoma. 6. viii. Nellie A. Kelley, b. September 1880. As you can see I have more ? in my information than facts. Can anyone help me out? Mine was born about 1736 in SC and married Margaret HALL, b. 1738, Berkley Co., SC. If you ever find a connection between your family and mine please let me know. I appreciate your response.
