Hi Everyone, I have apparently been the victim of a computer virus that accesses email address books and then attaches a file of it's own. Next, sends it to everyone within that address book. If you recently received an email file from me (during the last 24 hours) that had an attachment to be opened please delete it and DO NOT open it. So far as I know, you can have no damage from virus attachments if you do not open them? Earlier today, I was alerted by a friend that had received a suspicious email attachment in his email box addressed from me. He knew I don't send frivolous attachments so he notified me and this is when I learned about the virus attacking my email address book. Until I investigate further, DO NOT open any attachments addressed from me. I have NOT sent out any such attachments, if you received one it would have been sent from this virus. It may be that this is just a virus that emails advertisements and does not attack the computer further. I will investigate further. I apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks Garius
My Hill family were newsagents in Clerkenwell, at 78 Compton Street, for close on a hundred years. Family names mainly ROBERT, ARTHUR, ARCHIBALD and CHARLES. I think an earlier ROBERT ARCHIBALD was a baker in Lamb Street, Spitalfields. A cousin of my father, ROBERT CHARLES HILL, a Captain in the 13th Hussars, earned the MBE. Any information gratefully received. Ivy Trott in Fish Hoek, Cape Province, South Africa.
If you hear from this man, I want to know. When I was in Germantown, Surry Co. N.C. last year it was my understanding that my 4X GGrandfather, William Hill owned this iron works. Hi List! I have found out that my Grandpa George Hill and wife Christina Hunter Hill and his brother John Hill and his wife Mary Brown Hill came to the United States in 1870/1871 from Scotland to Hazelton, Pennsylvania. Where can I go to look into immigration into Hazelton, Pa? What source would I go to find this sort of information? Thanks for whatever hints you can guide me with. Hello all -- My line apparently comes from Needles Hill ( b. 1725 VA ) through his son >Francis HILL 1752 VA-?) who married Elizabeth JONES, whose son >Francis HILL(1783 VA - before 1860 KY), married Rebecca HALL (ca. 1785 - before 1840 KY), whose son >William Wright HILL(1823 KY - 1907 KY), married Martha Caroline BEDFORD (1823 KY - 1895 KY), etc. etc. Is anyone here connected to this line? I am particularly confused about Needles' wife/wives. I know that he married Letitia Morgan on 4 Oct., 1758 in Middlesex Co. VA. Was she kin to his first wife, Jane Morgan? Does anyone know what happened to Jane? The Early Virginia Religious Petitions site http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/repehtml/repehome.html displays photos of original documents, many with signatures. Among Culpeper County documents, I found signatures of George, Joseph, and LeRoy Hill: Early Virginia Religious Petitions http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/ampage?collId=relpet& fileName=300/331/331page.db&recNum=1&tempFile=./temp/~ammem_1WqH& filecode=relpet&next_filecode=relpet&itemnum=1&ndocs=10 and another Hill that I don't recognize at Early Virginia Religious Petitions http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/ampage?collId=relpet& fileName=100/175/175page.db&recNum=2&tempFile=./temp/~ammem_1WqH& filecode=relpet&next_filecode=relpet&prev_filecode=relpet&itemnum=3&ndocs=10 Sorry about the long URLs. The documents are fascinating, and there are many more besides just these two. Still looking for Needles, his brother Russell, or Francis. Would appreciate any help with my line. Thanks. Kit

Hill, born in 1796 in Connecticut, possibly Bethleham. He moved to Rochester where he had a mill and was elected as a Democrat as the 9th mayor in 1841. He lived on Prince Street where he died in 1883. He was married to someone named Silvana and they had several children: Charles B., Weathy, Hannah and Emily. Emily married someone named Pierce (Edward, I think). Her daughter, (my grandmother), was named Blanche and she was married twice - to Harold Strebeigh and in 1914 to Jerome Napoleon Bonaparte. While married to her first, she had three children - Harold who didn't survive into adulthood and twins, Blanche and Barbara Strebeigh, who were born in Rye, NY in 1902. They lived in New York and summered in fashionable resorts like Newport and Southampton. TerryAnn: Please send any more details you have on this. The names of the sons (John, James, Green and William) match those listed by many researchers for William Hill b 1737 in Caroline Co., VA, married Hannah Elizabeth Halbert. The son named William was the Secretary of State of NC. I am interested in your information because I have confirmed my Hill line back to James Hill b Bet. 1765 - 1775 and suspect he may be the brother of William Hill, Sec of State of NC. The one piece that may not fit precisely is that William Hill b. 1737 is said to have died in 1785 by some sources and 1792 by others. You state that the land grant was in 1793-1794? Here is what appears on the Hill Families of America website by Byron Hill: REV. WILLIAM2 HILL JR. (William1); born 1737 at Caroline Co., VA; married Elizabeth Halbert, daughter of Joel Halbert and Frances Elizabeth Jones, between 1764 and 1767 at Caroline Co., VA; died before Feb 21, 1785; died Sep 29, 1792 at Surry Co., NC. He was a Baptist minister, and also said by second source to have been Chaplain and a member of the Committee of Safety, Salisbury Dist., NC during the Revolutionary War. He was Chaplain on Mar 15, 1781 at Battle of Guilford Courthouse, Greensboro, Guilford, NC. Children of Rev. William2 Hill Jr. and Elizabeth Halbert were as follows: a.. + 12 i. Hello Terry Ann and Others! You are right that a lot of Hill families in the South were claiming or TRYING to claim kinship to A.P. Hill. :) Does anyone have the ancestors of A.P. Anyone out there got a Mary Ann (Polly) Taylor marrying an Abraham Hill? (They have a son Abraham born 1826) (My gg grandfather) Thanks!
