How much does a DNA test cost? Is it only the male line in the family that counts? Margaret
Victoria, I'm sorry that I can not give you any clues about your Hills but was hoping that perhaps we have a connection. I have a William S. Hill born in NC 1830. We know nothing of his parents or siblings. He was in TN by 1850. I had a 2nd cousin do the DNA test and we linked to a line that was in VA prior to NC, but we have not found our common ancestor yet. Do you have any info on your John Hill's siblings? Was he born in NC also? If so the time and place seem to match. Hello Hill family! I am trying to confirm the parentage of Ann/Anna RILEY b. 1832-1835 probably Brown Co, IL but maybe NC. I believe Ann/Anna RILEY's parents to be Nathan RILEY b. 10-29-1776 Louden Co, VA d. Abt. 1798 Rowan Co, NC and Sarah BRIGGS b. Abt. 1775 Rowan Co, NC d. Abt. 1798 Rowan Co, NC. Can anyone help me confirm that these are Ann/Anna's parents? I'm getting desperate! Am happy to share information. Thank you!

Thanks Al, but none of the families you showed can be mine. My earliest was born in NC in 1830 and all of these families that could have connected in some way were out of NC already. If there is a connection it is probably prior to my William S. Hill by at least one generation. Sorry I can't help you. I hate to sound like a broken record, but has anyone in these lines had the DNA test? That could save you a lot of work if it proves they are not related. I would like to contact Susan or Susanne Hill, said to have been living somewhere in New York State in 1969. She is thought to be one of two daughters born to Earl and Maxine Anderson of Portland, Oregon, sometime in the 1930's. Earl and Maxine divorced, possibly around the mid-1940's, and Maxine moved from Portland with the daughters, possibly to California. Susan/Susanne may have attended Stanford University. Earl's sister, Dorothy Anderson, died in Portland 18 Jul 2002 at the age of 93. Andy Anderson
