Would a descendant of the Abraham HILL family lineage please contact me asap. I have some information that may be of interest to you. As I understand it, Abraham HILL and Christian/Kathrine WALTON had the following sons: John 1757-1763 Abraham 1759-1818 Henry 1767-1829 Theophilus 1769-1829 Noah 1771-1805 Miles 1774-1814 Willie P. 1775-1814 Thomas 1780-1816 If you are a descendant of any of the above, please contact me. I am pleased to announce that matching funds (10% - 25%) are now available under our HILL DNA Project for those who qualify. Selection criteria established by Project Sponsors includes (but not limited to) the following: (1) The recipient, whose DNA is tested, must be a male from a direct line of male Hill descendants. A female may be a recipient of funds if she is willing to (a) make arrangements with a male Hill relative to take the test and (b) handle all necessary transactions with that relative. (2) The recipient should be someone that has been directly involved in researching their Hill family history, and has good documentation on his/her Hill ancestor, preferably born before 1800 (prior to 1700 even better). (3) The recipient should be a descendant of a HILL family line NOT yet represented in our DNA Project. (4) Project Sponsors reserve the right to select or not select any funding request, for any reason, including (but not limited to) the availability of funds, insufficient family history, etc.. If you have run into a brick wall in researching your Hill family history and are interested in receiving matching funds to participate in a scientific approach, please send me a brief summary of your earliest Hill ancestor (wife, children, dates, etc.) and indicate how you meet the above criteria. We have approximately 60 people participating in the Project, which is divided into 14 unique family groups based on the results of DNA testing. The common ancestor for participants in five, and possibly six of these groups, has been identified, based on a combination of traditional research and DNA testing. As new test results come in from the University of Arizona, we anticipate identifying new common ancestors not previously know to participants. Hello everyone on the list, I was wondering if there was anyone researching the Hill family in the Forest of Dean. I am looking in the area of Bream & Yorkley (between 1850-1900). Are there any parishes that I could contact for information, or is it better to inquire at the record office in Glouscester? Thanks for your time, Rachel Hill Hamilton, Canada
Hello! A friend asked me some questions about his Hill line that I was unable to help him with. Am hoping one of you has some information. Here is his inquiry: I am working on three Hill lines in Newton, Franklin & Johnson Cos., Arkansas that have connections to the Branch and McAllister families. Our HILLs came out of North Carolina. I don't have much except for Henry W. Hill, b 1800-1810. He may have married a woman his senior and had at least one daughter. The Henry I'm looking at is in Pope Co., Arkansas in 1830. Beyond that I have nothing. I could guess his father to be, perhaps, a George. He may have had a brother, Mitchell, but I'm making wild guesses. The key piece, I guess, is Pope Co., AR. Looking for a Hill who is married into the family Emmett. I believe they may have been from TN, but their daughter Nancy Emmett Hill was born in Arkansas abt 1851. I believe she may have been a music teacher. She married a Kelley/Kelly. Does anyone have ties to either of these families? Rhonda
Hi all, Wondering if anone has links to the following (and some more info!) Thomas Hill was born in 1800 and married in Armagh at age 28, 16 years before they came here to Australia in 1844 on the "Wallace". They were staunchly Presbyterian from all that I have heard and from later children's marriage / birth certs. I know that Thomas' wife was Letitia Miller and her parents were Robert Miller and Margaret Kennedy. Letitia was born in Derry according to her death certificate. Unfortunately, Thomas' death cert doesn't list his parents and states that he was born "Armagh Ireland". I know nothing about Thomas' parents etc. It was passed down in the family that they came from "The Glebe" Derryscollop, County Armagh and this seems correct. Before emigrating they had Mary (c1832 and died enroute), Robert (C1834), Margaret (c1836), (m. Williams and Cairns) Richard (c1840), Jane (c1842) (m. Hugh William Hughes), Wallace, (born and died enroute) and possibly a Thomas born around 1841. Mary (1847) (m. Lindsay) and Martha (1849) (m. Tainsh) were born in Geelong, Australia. Does anyone have any connections? Sue
