    3. Hello Steve and Wendy, Not sure if you already got Sung Bo Park's immigration records, but here it is. As you know his immigration year never appears clear in the 1910 or 1920 census; it could be 1904, or 1905 or sometimes you can read it as 1908. If you search Ancestry.com Immigration records for "Sung Po Pak" you will get three hits, two passenger records, and one with the index immigration card. The first immigration record indicates he left Kobe, Japan on 26 Dec 1904 on the S.S. Doric and arrived at Honolulu on 6 Jan 1905. The second record indicates he left Kobe, Japan on 14 Jan 1905 aboard the S.S. Korea and arrived at Honolulu on 26 Jan 1905. It is strange he is listed twice. There is no time for him to get to Honolulu on 6 Jan 1905, then go back to Japan for whatever the reason, and leave Japan on 14 Jan 1905 for the second time. There is also only one immigration card for him that corresponds to the second trip. He probably missed the first trip. In both immigration records he lists his last residence as "Yong San", that most probably refers to Yong-san, Sinam-myeon, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. I determined that by comparing it to the other locations listed by the other passengers. There is also a Yong San district in the middle of Seoul but it is unlikely this is the place of origin as these immigrants used to come from the rural areas of the different prefectures. Hope this helps, Francisco -----Original Message----- From: hikauai-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:hikauai-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of hikauai-request@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, January 20, 2013 12:00 AM To: hikauai@rootsweb.com Subject: HIKAUAI Digest, Vol 4, Issue 1 Today's Topics: 1. 3. Hello Nena, thanks for your response. In Ryoichi's death certificate it says just "Kealia Cemetery" ans I have seen it listed also as "Kealia Japanese Cemetery". I don't really have a concrete address. I sent a message out to a lady from the Find a Grave web site asking for the location; she posted some pictures from this cemetery. I'll post the address as soon as I get it. 1. [HIKAUAI] BURBANK Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of R. W. BURBANK which was taken at the Jones Studio in Providence, Rhode Island. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's or 1880's with the young man in the photograph likely in his 20's at the time. The photograph was recovered along with others belonging to the 1878 Class and Staff of Brown University. Brown University historical records include Robert Willard BURBANK in the Class of 1878 so I'm assuming that this is him. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Robert and his family: Robert Willard BURBANK b. 14 Sept 1856 in Koloa, HI to parents Samuel BURBANK (b. 23 Aug 1813) and Mary Abigal MORSE. Robert was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Mary A.; Samuel M.; Bertha; Caleb A.; and Robert W. BURBANK between 1847 and 1856. The first two children born in Cherryfield, ME and the last three in Koloa, HI. Robert died 26 May 1906 in Providence, RI at the age of 49. Census records provide the following information regarding the family: 1870 census of Machias, ME: Mary BURBANK, age 46, a widow, born ME Mary A. BURBANK, age 22, at Home, born ME Bertha BURBANK, age 17, at Home, born Sandwich Islands Caleb BURBANK, age 15, at Home, born Sandwich Islands Robert BURBANK, age 13, at Home, born Sandwich Islands 1880 census of Providence, RI: Mary a. 1. looking for family names and DOB/DOD.
    2. I'm Barbara Petersen, living in Chicago and need to find the names of my relatives. My great grandmother was Rosina Georgetta Kalauokeaka Ayres/Ayers, her mother was Namoolau Manaku Ayres/Ayers. I don't have Namoolau's husband's name, although records at the Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Lahaina has Rosina's mother and father listed, at her baptism in1879, as Hattie and Eugene Ayres. Are Hattie and Namoolau the same person? According to a tape recording, Namoolau was an interpreter during Queen Liliuokalani's reign and she was from an Alii family. Namoolau later worked for the Hatfield sugar Plantation on Maui. I'm related to Alama Ayers and her brother David Manaku Ayers who are alive and live in Wailuku, Maui, but I don't know the relationship. Their father was Alfred Alama Ayers (who married Achoy Ahu Chang) and he may be a nephew of Eugene, based of the dates of Alfred's birth 3/12/1887, which is later than Rosin'a birth 1/12/1877, or he may be a brother of Rosina's father. David Manaku Ayers married Eleanor Ahuna and had the following children: Nelson Ayers, Davida Poliala Ayers and Alfred Kalae Ayers. Other names I have, but whose relationship I don't know are: Annie Greig, who I met in Lahaina in 1972 Mary K. Robinson who owned Robinson Hawaiian Tours, when I travelled there in 1972. Rosina's brother and sister are: Eugene Thomas Kalanilunaokelii Ayers and Mary Alice Kaiokalani Ayres. The church also listed a communicant in 1913: Mary Alice K. Hoapili, and she may be the same Mary Alice who was Rosina's sister. Finding out about the Hoapili name will also help, but I don't have any other names to search. In the tape recording my Rosina, she states that Eugene, her brother, had a child named Alice Robinson. So much information, but I lack the links to them all. I hope you can help, Mahalo, Barbara Petersen _boopetersen@aol.com_ (mailto:boopetersen@aol.com) Rosina went to Makawao school, and I've written them for the names of her parents. Because I don't know dates of death or location of death, I'm unable to find death certificates or birth certificates. for any of these people. I do know that Rosina died while living in Massachusettes. Rosina married Robert C Dinegar and they moved from Maui to New York in 1909 with their children, my grandfather, Henry Alexander Dinegar and Adelaide Elizabeth Dinegar. They also lived in Wailuku but didn't go to school, they were tutored privately.

    1. [HIKAUAI] Looking for a Ben Schaffer.......
    2. Hello List, I'm looking for a man name Ben Schaffer, whom I think lives in Hawaii, he responded to an article back in February 1999 that I had posted in the Oha Paper, under "Reunions." I held a Memorial Service for my Grandfather Noah Kealoha aka Noah Kealoha Woodward on August 7, 1999 at Diamond Head Memorial Park Cemetery..................trying desperately to find my Grandfather's family. Ben had called my hanai sisters house who lived in Kalihi 2 times, left his name with my hanai brother but no phone number. At the time Ben seemed to be very excited and said that's my KEALOHA family. If anyone has information on Ben Schaffer, I would desperately like to talk to him. Please contact me at: email address-halekuauhau@znet.com or PO Box 711163 S.D., CA. 92171 Thank you in Advance! Leilei Kealoha-Campbell
