I have a question that concerns my ggrandmother Antonia dela Cruz who I recently learned came to Hawaii from Madeira as a 13 year old accompanied by a woman who was not a parent. Some census records indicate she immigrated in 1880, one shows 1890. Previous attempts to locate Antonia in passenger lists have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have thoughts on how I might search for her on an immigration list? I'm wondering if she might have been recorded under the name of her chaperone, perhaps only her first name was used, etc. Thanks, Jon

I recently learned that my ancestor was a contract laborer at the S. M. Damon estate in 1899. He was one of one of only 16 Italians employed as a contract worker in the Islands and all were working for Mr. Damon. Are there records available from this estate that might include information on contract workers during that time frame? Thanks for your help. Jon

But, just a little background first :-) I have been trying for a very long time to figure out if Einer Clearunce Young (born February February 25th 1907 Kentucky or Ohio, died July 27th 1978 in Carson City, NV) is my 2nd great grand aunt's son. So, I am looking for every bit of information about this Einer as possible. I have reason to believe that he married a woman called Mary I Machado (born December 30th 1914 Honolulu?, HI, died March 21st 1995 in Carson City, NV). I know that Einer and Mary lived in San Francisco in the late 1940s and early 1950s, but I have a feeling that they got married in Hawaii sometime between 1930 and 1940.
