Hicks died at Knoxville on the morning of the 31st ult. We had no personal acquaintance with the deceased, but learn from those who knew him well that he was one of the best of men, and a natural born lawyer. He had attained a marked distinction among members of the Bar throughout the State, and his work on "Chancery Practice" are said now to be a hand-book to the professors. Mr. Hicks was a native of Monroe County, and has many relatives in this county who mourn his death. He was a member of the M.E. Church South, and died in full triumph of the Christian faith.
