Mary Hicks was reportedly the 3rd wife of Laird Beatty Fleming. However, one source of info I came across says that Laird Fleming (son of Samuel Fleming Jr.) and Laird Beatty Fleming (son of William Fleming--brother to Samuel Jr.--and Mary Laird) were cousins and often confused. A family tree that I have states that there was no son named Laird born to Samuel Jr. The 1860 Census of Panola Co TX, Household #569-569 lists: Laird Fleming--age 39--Farmer--b in GA--Estate valued at $15,000; his wife Mary--age 40--b in GA; Martha--age 15--b in GA; Mary--age 12--b in GA; Sarah--age 9--b in GA; Indiana--age 7--b in GA; Laura--age 5--b in TX; and John--age 4--b in TX.
