Reuben was born in Virginia about 1795, And was in the 1812 War, and was living in Russell County, Virginia after the 1812 War. Reuben and his second wife, Nancy received a pension from that War. He was in the "Virginia Militia" Captain John Hammons Company. There is no regiment listed on his pension papers and shows he only served 90 days... August 2, 1814 to October 30, 1814, and on another form it said he was station at at Norfolk, Virginia, And he served a full 60 days, July 20, 1814 to December 7, 1814. (There was another Reuben Hicks in the 1812 War from Tennessee). This Reuben Hicks moved to Floyd County, Kentucky around 1835. He was on the 1840 census and 1850 Floyd County, Kentucky Census, then in 1860 on the Lawrence County, Kentucky Census. The census has him listed as a farmer. Christena was listed as living with their son William J. Hicks in the 1870 Carter County, Kentucky census. Christena died September 27, 1874 probably in Carter County, Kentucky Reuben died! on the first day of January, 1880 in Carter County, Kentucky and buried on Perry's Branch, Olive Hill, Carter County,Kentucky I found seven boys for his children, all of them born in Russell County, Virginia except Reuben R.. Hicks who was born in Floyd County, Kentucky. In his pension papers he stated he was 76 years old in 1851. This researcher has a copy of Rueben's pension papers. Reuben was living in Carter County, Kentucky when these papers were filed in 1871, and Christena was still his wife. Another researcher wrote that Reuben married Nancy Blevins, October 17, 1874 which would have been one month after Christena died. I hope this helps Dave Hicks
