    1. [HICKS] Re: Fayette County, Illinois, Hicks Family
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Cei.2ACEB/3371.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Here is some info on the Lewis Hicks family mentioned in this string. If this is a Fayette Co. IL family connected to the line of Littleberry Hicks who came from Hickman Co. TN and Montgomery Co. NC, it is not likely the Indian connection mentioned by Delbert Hicks is through the Hicks family, who are not known to have any Indian connections unless they predated Littleberry by a few generations; if Delbert Hicks was 2/4 Cherokee, it is far more likely that it was through his mother's Booth family; more data is required. There are other Hicks families who have proven Cherokee connections, so the ancestry of Lewis Hicks through his father Jacob requires further study. Both Jacob and Lewis are fairly common given names among the descendants of Littleberry Hicks. >From the funeral home obits below and other info, we can piece together the following: Lewis Hicks b. ca. 1875, d.
