    3. A summary of Wm. Hicks pension application # W8931, Certificate #6 528 issued Mar. 18, 1818. He enlisted the first time in VA. on Sept. 20, 1776 and served as a private for two years In Capt. William McKee's Company, Co. James Wood's 12th. VA. Regiment. He enlisted again in 1780 and served as a corporal in Capt. F. Coward's company with the Second VA. Regiment under Col. Hawes. He was discharged on Jan. 17, 1782. Pension Certificate # 1148 issued to his widow, Mary Swanger Hicks Mar. 3, 1843. She died Aug. 24, 1847 in Jessamine Co., KY. Records show her living in Jessamine Co. in 1838 and 1843. They were married Jan. 2, 1784, place not stated. Children: First child died at abt. age 3 mos. Moses, b. Sept. 7, 1786 Abraham, b. Oct. 30, 1788 "Suffiah", b. Sept. 20, 1790, mar. Edward Combs, resided in Jessamine Co. Samuel, b. Jan. 16, 1792 William, b. Dec. 4, 1794 "Abagil", b.
