    1. [HICKS] Re: HICKS IN NORTH CAROLINA
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HICKS/PASS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Cei.2ACEB/2907.2925.1.2 Message Board Post: Hello Dennis! My husband's Hicks settled in Blount Co, Tenn, and remained there until the depression era. But, I can't account for the location of the birth of the first child born in Tenn. All the children before were born in North Carolina, and then the first born in Tenn was my husband's great grandfather, James D. Hicks, b 1833, Tenn. All the others were born in Tenn. More than half of the children of William Hicks and Elizabeth Dunnaway were either deaf or hearing and speech impaired--we didn't even know it as it has not shown up in our branch of the family. I have looked through the Hicks in Monroe Co and wondered about them, but couldn't prove that any were related. I do have some contacts with a person doing Monroe Co, Tenn, research on the Hicks people there. Our connection seems to be (distantly) with the PASS family, with which my husband's Hicks people were very intermarried, and with whom I believe they moved from North Carolina to Tenn. We can't seem to! find another connection. The Pass family didn't remain in Blount Co, but went on to Roane Co, Tenn. Are you aware of anyone by the name of Pass in your Hicks lines? Please feel free to correspond with me at my home e mail address: [email protected] Warmest Regards, Mary Hicks [email protected]
