Dean in Hamilton County Illinois, has the names of mother HICKS from NC and Father's name as Augustus Smith of TN listed. On the LDS family search website I found Elizabeth Hicks married to Augustus Smith in Monroe County TN. I found August Smith and Elizabeth in 1860 census for Hamilton County Illinois with husband Augustus Smith. Elizabeth lists TN as her birthplace and Augustus lists his birthplace ast NC. Augustus and Elizabeth were both listed as persons over 20 who cant read or write. They have the below listed children: Mary J. born IL 8 F Sarah E. born IL 6 F (this is my GG Grandmother) James H. born IL 5 M Samuel H. born IL 4 M Francis M. born IL 8/12 M I also found in 1860 census for Hamilton County, Martin L. Hicks and spouse Ann S. I believe she is Ann Susan Smith the sibling of Augustus Smith, and I believe Martin L. Hicks to be the sibling of Elizabeth Hicks. Martin L. Hicks and Ann S in 1860 census Hamilton County have listed children: Sarah C. born IL 8 F Eliza J. born IL. 5 F George M. born IL 2 M Martin Hicks lists Tn as place of birth cant read or write Ann S lists NC as place of birth cant read or write.
