I do know of the early Hicks of Brunswick Co., VA, and the wife of Daniel Hicks, Edith Fonville Hicks Kibbles, moving to Onslow Co.,NC with her four children, two of them being sons Daniel & Benjamin. Onslow Co.,NC was established in 1734, and records for that area are pretty good. There was also a Hicks family living in the Richmond Co.,NC area (formed from early Anson Co 1779), close to the county line of Marlboro Co.,SC., and others actually in Marlboro Co.,SC. (all from the Brusnwick Co., Va family) John Hicks, wife Obedience, "Will of John Hicks, of Anson County, wife: Obedience Hicks, sons: William and John, daughters: Frances Hicks and Mary Hicks, granddaughter: Sarah Hicks. Signed by John Hicks 24 April 1760. Witnesses: Alex. Gordon, Wm. Hicks. Proved May 1761." This William Hicks above, son of John, had sons Charles, Daniel & Benjamin. I am on the trail of this son, Daniel. These guys served in the Rev. war from this area, but so many of the Hicks used these names over & over, so it is hard to keep them straight. For instance, one Daniel Hicks moved back to Brunswick Co., VA and filed for his Rev. War pension in later years. My Daniel Hicks left orphans in the Richmond Co.,NC area in 1796. This time frame , mid to late 1700s, early eighteen hundreds , is vague to say the least. I have some addtional information if you want to email me privately. Joanne H., <[email protected]>
