In the 1860 Pleasant Grove Twp, Marion Co., Iowa census, there is listed a James Hicks, age 35 born in Ohio. Zelpha is listed on the next line as age 26 born in Ohio; therefore am assuming she is his wife. My question has to do with which of the listed children below them belong to Zelpha, and who was James' first spouse? Would also like to know Zelpha's maiden name. Listed children: Mary J. age 15 born in Ohio Lucinda age 13 born in Ohio Malinda age 10 born in Ohio Erika age 3 born in Iowa Alice E. age 2 months born in Iowa I am assuming that Mary through Malinda belong to a first unknown spouse, and that Erika and Alice belong to Zelpha.
