She listed her earliest know Hicks anc as JAMES HICKS born abt 1806 in ENGLAND and ended up in Stokes County, North Carolina (no other details). Her e-mail address must have changed - messages sent are returned. We match on the 12 markers - meaning we share (I think) a common anc. My BROWN surname is supposed to have been originally HICKS - this info was only oral family history (no details on who/when) and the DNA route I've taken seems to have been fruitfull . IF I could only find her or any other person having connection to JAMES HICKS, b abt 1806, b England. .

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Cei.2ACEB/331.1895.1 Message Board Post: I don't remember seeing your post before! There are lots of Adcocks in the same places I've seen Hicks so this is very likely our Hicks and I think 'Adry' is very rare so regardless of the birth date(s), I'm fairly convinced that this is ours. You were in the court house at Morgan county-- do you live nearby? Is your Hicks ancestor from there as well? I'm not familiar with any of the surnames you list in your post. Thank you for your reply. I have decided to just start adding Hicks's to my family tree maker file as I find them (Option: Add unrelated individual)! Many of them are sure to match up somewhere! I hope to post my gedcom online soon. I had many mistakes a few years back and didn't have time to keep looking plus it seemed there was little progress. There is an Adrey Hicks in the 1st Census, in Richmond county, NC. According to the rootsweb.com person who posted my query in August 2002, a Daniel Hicks died there in 1796, James Hicks died there in 1794, Laurence in 1833 and Hiram in 1881 (this is the order she gave them to me). Allen Hicks is first mentioned in the 1800 census there. Then our Adry Hicks shows up years later and we are left trying to hook him in. We have much info on this Adry Hicks, very little about his wife Nancy Jenkins. Much searchable info has yet to be posted on the Richmond co website, as well as Morgan county, etc. Appears some footwork is on call. There are several of us searching! We have family in Illinois, Missouri, and Texas that I have seen posting... Looking forward to seeing that breakthru! Cindy (Hicks) Curtis

Surnames: Hicks, Ripley, Dean Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Cei.2ACEB/3984.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Terry, I was hoping to hear from you after I sent you the 1824 and 1827 census records for Garret and Daniel Hicks in Yonge Township, Leeds Co., Ontario. I believe that you are correct, that Daniel and Garret are brothers. In addition, I have found land transfer records in Leeds Co. from 1827, 1828 and 1830 between Garret and an Abner Lee. Abner Lee was married to Hannah Hicks. I believe she is their sister. I also have found who I think is the father of Daniel and Garret. Get in touch with me and I will give you the rest of the information I have found. Connie Hicks Mazerov
