Surnames: Hicks, Palmer Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Cei.2ACEB/3440 Message Board Post: Greetings! I am looking for information on James A. Hicks. He was born c.1810 in New York. According to the 1850 census, he is living in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He is family group 125, age 40, and a merchant. Living with him is his wife, Ellnor Boynton Palmer Hicks, their daughter, Charlotte (born c. 1842) and Ellnor’s brother, John Boynton Palmer, also a merchant. In 1860, John B. Palmer, his wife, and Charlotte Hicks, are living in Watauga County, North Carolina, and according to the census, Charlotte’s personal wealth is valued at $20,000(!), leading me to believe that both James A. Hicks and Ellnor Palmer Hicks are dead. The only other piece of information that I have is that James A. Hicks was one of the original subscribers to the Elmwood Cemetery in Detroit. What happened to James A. and Ellnor Hicks? Thanks, Michael C. Hardy Crossnore, NC
