In the late 1700's or early 1800's they migrated from Goochland Virginia down thriugh Ky to North Eastern TN. One of Meshack's daughters Sarah was my 3rd GGM she was born in 1794 in Goochland County VA, I know very little about this family as my research has been sketchy based on family bibles no longer available and family history from a family member who has since passed. I believe Meshack's father was a John b. 1745 VA d. Sevier County TN m. Comfort Malone and they also had 10 kids (again I have names no dates) John's father was Shadrack b. abt 1725 in UK. m. Elizabeth Unknown. I've been meaning to research this line of Hicks' in more detail but they are a sideline my Hicks line migrating from Ireland most likely in the early 1800's.

He moved to Choctaw Cty, MS in 1836 with son Alfred Burton and George Walton, and daughters Isola and Elmira. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? Are you descended from Caswell or James? What are the particulars on your Thomas (DOB, wife's name, etc)?

Also I wonder if Elizabeth Rice was any relation to Francis Rice who married Edward Baker? Are you related to Andrew and Elizabeth or Andrew and Artimissa? Did you know that on John Hicks death certificate it lists his mother as a woman by the name of Bertha Ann Boulders? I don't know who she is or where that name came from but I do know that one of John's childrens name was Berti. I have a picture of John Hicks and Susan Baker Hicks if you would be interested. robin

On page 42, Long Creek Twp. Decatur co. Iowa you will find the family of Lewis Solomon their oldest daughter is listed as Matilda, I have her as Lydia Marilda, she is said to have married Ruben Hicks, I suspect that the Hicks, Solomon also the Asa Rodgers family who is next to the Lewis Solomon family came from Indiana together in about 1852 or maybe as early as 1846, the Hicks family lived in Owen co. Ind. and the Solomon and Rodgers family lived in Putnum Co. Ind. The early Solomon's came from Tenn. as did the Hicks family, the families are linked by marrage to a Martin family is there a relationship of these families back in the early 1800's or in the late 1700's.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Cei.2ACEB/3513.1 Message Board Post: The Ruben (Reuben) Hicks you found in the 1880 census of IA is one of 12 known ch. of George Amos Hicks and Elizabeth Randall. Reuben married Eady/Edy Beaman 18 May 1836 in Owen Co. IN, and had at least 3 ch. Anna, Martha, and Sarah. Much later (1888) Reuben married Mary C. Larsen. This branch of the Hicks family, along with members of the Beaman, Randall, Stevens, Haltom, and Humble families, to name a few, moved from the area of Montgomery Co. NC to Owen Co. IN in the 1820's. Other members of this Hicks line had already moved from NC to Hickman Co. TN, from where the majority of them moved on to Fayette Co. IL, except for a few who went to Carroll Co. TN.

My 3rd great grandfather was Napoleon Lario married to margaret Goudy and took a second wife (wilst married to first) named Ellen Sarah Chalk. They had three children that I am aware of. Annie M Lario born 1897, George Wallace Lario born 1902 and Jennie P Lario born 1908. Napoleon died in 1912 and Ellen Sarah Chalk may well have remarried, she had a young family. Napoleon's sister Adeline Lario married a man by the name of Peter Love. One of their children was named for Napoleon, so it stands to reason, perhaps there were more children for Napoleon that i do not know of that one daughter may have been called ____ Love Lario. Contact me if this fits :)
