It seems to me there could be a connection. John Hix came through KY. Any chance your Hicks family came that way? Any idea why they moved to Missouri? John Hix had a son named Dudley Hix and I know that some of Dudley's descendants who are alive today spell their name Hicks. Dudley was born in 1859 in Camden Co. and died in 1940 - I don't know where. Dudley had 5 sons: William ("Willie"), Harold, Harry, Melvin, and Walter. I have no dates for the sons. If you don't mind, I'll ask some of my Hix relatives to see if they have any useful information about this.

I know that some descendants use the Hicks spelling but that seems to vary quite a bit. I looked up Hicks in the Lebanon City Cemetery (1857-1999) directory that I have. It lists Lewis Hicks and says that he died at age 63, the burial permit is dated 17 Sep 1940 [the directory gives the permit date when there is no date in the records or on the tombstone.] Ann
